happy international david oakes day!! someone gotta make some treats for the civilians of david nation somehow! you're very welcome and i'm glad you enjoy my blog <33
Everyone shut up this is important!!!!!!!
There’s a book, I think it’s called “The King’s Damsel” or something like that, that actually is told from the POV of the woman that Anne and Jane supposedly tried to get ousted. And yeah, in the book she’s a bitch but she and Anne are besties who are always together.
That’s the kind of Anne and Jane we need in our Period Dramas IMO.
This arguably may be TOO spicy of an unpopular opinion, but... I actually like Anne Boleyn's yellow dress that she wears to celebrate Catherine's death in The Tudors. Yes; AND the nonsensical frilly headdress that looks like someone put an artfully folded restaurant napkin on her head as well.
I actually don’t mind it either, but that’s probably because it was on Natalie Dormer lol. I feel like it would have been a disaster on anyone else. I’m really not a fan of the color and the hat reminds me of a coffee filter. 😭
ohhh! i ordered just the original book- i’d love to get the others eventually- they have a combined offer for that one along with “The King’s Servants” that I’ve been eyeing up; as well as their “Typical Tudor” one which is coming out in february. i figured i’d go with the og book because most of my historical fashion experience is in the 18th century- and it has a hood pattern along with 35 other patterns. i have some other patterns already, so i’m really interested in seeing how they compare
that was the scene i was gonna watch! i rewatched s2 in september and i’ve always liked that scene but it really struck me watching it again it’s just so well done and so sad
🔥 Unpopular opinion on.... anything related to historical costumes in shows? (My apologies if it’s a tad vague)
Don’t be sorry at all! Ok so scorching hot take... I highkey LOVE the costumes in Ivanhoe 1982 and it would really love if we could bring that style back for some new period dramas.
The glitter, the color, the cardboard crowns!!! It’s just so fun!!!
