I'm eating dinner so these will probably be food-related headcanons hehe

Gabriel likes to cook. He never thought he would make something for anyone, because he preferred to be served rather than serve, but you know, just being around Cecily made him want to bake her favorite pies, so she would be happy. He wasn't really great at first and burned part of the Institute kitchen, but he got better after a few weeks of practice.

When Cecily was pregnant with Alex, Gabriel used to talk to her stomach to make her laugh. She was very stressed because she was ordered to stay in bed since she was almost due and her ankles were so swollen it hurt to walk. They both read stories to the baby and imagined how they would be. Cecily always craved extra dark chocolate during this period, because she claimed it soothed her nerves. More than once, Gabriel secretly went to Paris with a portal so he could buy her French chocolate.

aside from my pining, i love that he would put in so much effort to learn something that wasn’t strictly necessary just so he could make cecily smile and be happy

me, now picturing both of them in the kitchen together, happily making dinner for their band of devils

as for the chocolate headcanon, i am still obsessed with how far we all collectively agree gabriel will go to ensure cecily is all right—figuratively and literally. boy going to a whole different country because his pregnant wife wants something is so funny to me but so true

i’m also obsessed with chocolate so i may be biased toward the notion that cecily also loves chocolate

gabriel/cecily kiss headcanons

gabriel loves surprising cecily with kisses. she'll be doing some work or reading and he'd grab her and kiss her. it always takes her by surprise. but she loves it too.

cheek kisses. cheek kisses are so frequent. and both of them love doing it. whether it's a quick goodbye kiss, or a sweet hello, or when either of them is feeling down, or even when they aren't doing anything and are just resting, they'll kiss each other's cheek. most of the time they don't even realise it, it has become a bit subconscious.

on that note, hand kisses are very frequent too. especially when they're in public or in company of others. they don't like pda at all. so they'll kiss the back of the other's hand. and it's lovely and precious.

innocent shoulder kisses. gabriel loves hugging cecily from behind. and he loves kissing her shoulder when he's hugging her from behind.

intense kisses. these definitely only happen in their bedroom. this is partially because of them not liking pda, but also because these kisses lead to a lot more like 112% of the time.

when gabriel is sitting down, cecily loves slinging her arms over his shoulder from behind. she also loves bending down and kissing the back of his neck or the side of his neck. these kisses always turn gabriel on and make him flush. cecily loves doing it, especially when she wants to distract him.

cecily is very ticklish so stomach kisses always make her laugh. gabriel loves giving those, precisely for the same reason. he loves the sound of her laugh.

forehead kisses. gabriel always kisses cecily's forehead when they're hugging. even if it's a quick hug. always. cecily loves kissing the top of gabriel's head when he's sitting and she's standing behind him with her arms over his shoulders.

their favourite though, are sweet, slow kisses. no rush, no hurry, just love. those slow kisses are always full of so much emotion, and so much love.

my gabrily headcanons pt 1

based on a recent anon ask, i wanted to share some of the headcanons I have about gabrily and their family that i use in my fics!

1. their honeymoon was to America, much to Tessa’s delight. Gabriel did not particularly know what to expect, but he does declare upon their return that the only American he likes is Tessa

2. they still lived in London for a while after Kit was born but moved to Idris shortly after solving the Jack the Ripper case because they wanted Anna and Kit to be safer; plus, Gabriel was moving up in the Shadowhunter-politics world with Gideon

3. they live in a townhome in Alicante instead of in Lightwood Manor because Gideon inherited the Manor and moved his family to Idris some years earlier. Gabriel wanted to have a place of his own for his family and at this point, he could finally give them one, so he was not going to move in with Gideon right after leaving the Institute

4. the reason that Anna/Kit and James/Lucie didn’t get to grow up together as much as they probably wanted to wasn’t because of lack of effort, but because the Herondales ran the largest European congregation of Shadowhunters and the Lightwoods are high-up in positions of authority that probably take up much of their time; I highly doubt Cecily and Will wanted their kids to grow up apart from each other

5. they visit Edmund and Linette at least once a year, if they can. they wanted to give Anna and Kit the chance to know the only grandparents they had left

how do you think they told anna and kit about alexander? like the scenario headcanons you have about it

Hmm, I think they were essentially forced to in a way, because of Cecily's pregnancy history. They were probably worried about scaring them if Cecily got incredibly sick again, since Anna was too young to really remember when Kit was born.

So I imagine that after a few weeks of making sure the pregnancy was still a thing (since miscarraiges were just as common, if not more, than they are now), they sat Anna and Kit down and were very forward about it. "Your mother is pregnant" or "we're having another baby" in the simplest and most direct way. (Gabriel and Cecily give me that kind of transparency vibe with their kids).

Anna, I believe, is less phased than Kit, in the manner of she already knows what it is like to have a younger sibling. She's probably more amused that her parents were having another child in their late 30s.

Kit would be the one who is more confused or surprised. He'd ask questions about being an older sibling and "isn't thirteen years a large age gap" type of questions. This is where I think Cecily would crack a joke of like, "Well, think about it this way. Barbara and the baby will be 20 years apart."

Then, of course, I think they would explain how Cecily may come down with symptoms that render her in need of help sometimes and that Anna and Kit may have to help. I don't think they'd mention that the last two times were close brushes with death. Somehow I think Gabrily knew there were some things you didn't need to tell your kids at that age--especially if the thing was "your mom almost died giving birth to you."

There's my very long and ranty headcanon about how they told Anna and Kit :D (The other children/cousins found out through their own parents casually).

soft gabrily headcanons 🥰

gabriel is definitely more clingy than cecily. he just won't let go of her in the mornings because he wants more cuddle time.

they love spoiling each other. they keep getting each other gifts and little things that remind them of the other.

they both love to cook. and they love to cook together. cecily has taught gabriel many of her mom's recipes. cooking together has also led to food fights sometimes.

cecily isn't an avid reader like her brother, but her favourite thing is when gabriel reads to her. she may also have fallen asleep listening to his sweet voice on more than one occasion.

they are both 'neat and clean' persons. neither of them is the messy one and they both love that.

they both decorated their house together. it's not over the top or too minimalist. it's the perfect amount cozy for them and they love it.

they love training together. cecily is always trying to learn new fighting techniques and new weapons and gabriel loves seeing her be so passionate about it. morning training sessions are also their favourite.

nick names. are very frequent. gabriel mostly uses "ceci" and "my love" for his wife. cecily mostly uses "love" and "idiot" for her husband.

they are both shitty artists but love to draw together. they also get extremely competitive over who can draw the most ugliest version of the other. no one knows about this and all the drawings are kept well hidden.

edmund asked gabriel a LOT of questions during their visit because he could not possibly fathom the idea that his daughter had feelings for a lightwood (but decided that gabriel seemed like a good person, much to will’s dismay). gabriel only finally started breathing again when they returned to london because he couldn’t get cecily’s comment about them being married one day out of his head

gabriel never formally asked cecily for a courtship, it was just kind of assumed between them and everyone just accepted it (except for will, of course, who tried to dissuade cecily by telling embarassing falsehoods about gabriel. he gave up after cecily threatened to tell tessa some not-so-flattering childhood stories)

cecily never stopped being a little troublemaker and snuck along on a few missions before she finished her training; gabriel knew and never said anything, though he watched out for her

they most definitely made out whenever they had the chance. usually in the stables. and usually after cecily made a joke about his really bad attempt at flirting before their first kiss. she likes to tweak him by only increasing her rating in very small increments every time (5.1, 5.2, etc.)

while will was the one who officially oversaw cecily’s training, she would continue practicing with gabriel. it’s one of the many reasons cecily is one of the best fighters they have and gabriel finds it extremely attractive when she kicks ass

gabriel told absolutely no one about his plans to propose to cecily because he did not want a repeat disaster of what happened to gideon. and cecily, being a true romantic at heart, cried when he asked
