Willing and Able but it’s Christopher and Alexander Lightwood has me sobbing
“That’s ridiculous,” Christopher said. “It is as if one was bitten by a duck and years later one shot a completely different duck and ate it for dinner, and called that revenge.” “Please do not use metaphors, Christopher,” said Matthew. “It gives me the pip.” “This is bad enough without mentioning ducks,” said James. He had never fancied ducks since one had bitten him in Hyde Park as a small child.”
― Cassandra Clare, Chain of Gold chapter 7
Thing is, Will would totally call that revenge
There’s something I don’t get though. Also sorry if you haven’t read any of the Chain of Gold books a spoiler coming btw. Kit Lightwood died in chain of thorns but somehow his name is in a family tree where he marries Grace Blackthorn, also I hate her, but who wrote it and why didn’t they read the book? Makes no sense.

PSA: READ THIS IF YOU THINK CHRISTOPHER LIGHTWOOD DESERVES BETTER!!!
Kit, Kit, Kit, my love, you deserved so much more. the problem with how Christopher’s death is handled is the fact he hardly is spoken of. this is Thomas’s cousin, his best friend. Thomas and Christopher have more of a parabatai connection than Matthew and James have. Thomas is the one who stays with Kit and becomes the experiment. Thomas is the one who completed the cure in the first book. he’s the one who stays with Kit while he tries to create fire messages. THOMAS IS ALWAYS THERE. to kill him off? okay, fine. if you’re going to kill off a semi main/side character, make it worth it.
1. Christopher saved Cordelia and he died. Cordelia does not show any respect or compassion when it comes to grieving Kit. the fact that the grieving chapter goes to James WHO IS VERY MUCH ALIVE is insane. Cordelia thinks about Kit for probably one second and that’s it. Thomas and Anna are the only ones who still act that Kit died. I think Alastair would show it but CC doesn’t give a fuck about Alastair. there is a war but you can’t stop for one fucking second when your so called best friend died???? James and Matthew do hide it if they are sad but it’s not shown. it’s “oh he died, oh well, anyways” coded. the grieving chapter going to James????? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS. that chapter should’ve gone to Thomas. (gives me an idea) there is so much disrespect when Kit dies. this is why people can’t finish TLH.
2. having Kit defend Grace was super out of character for him. this is the person who abused and assaulted his friend. it’s not something Kit would do. “sorry she assaulted you James but I like her because she likes science” THAT IS NOT CHRISTOPHER. it’s not easy to write Grace and CC is already incompetent. even though Grace is being controlled by Tatiana, she still did those things. it’s complex. Christopher being friends with her just doesn’t seem in character for him. he is nice and of course, he loves to talk science but I don’t think he would’ve defended Grace to JAMES. that itself is not Kit. Grace could have been developed more if the writer knew how to fucking write.
3. Christopher’s family and how they don’t seem to matter. CC didn’t know she was going to kill Kit later, no matter what she says. Kit does almost die in chain of gold. I don’t think CC actually knows what she’s writing when she does. what gets me the most about kits death is that Gabriel and Cecily either don’t know or they’re just there getting on with their life. there have been 3 major accidents/deaths in TLH when it comes to lightwoods and the disrespect and hate they receive. Barbara dies (Thomas’s and Eugenia’s sister, Gideon and Sophie’s daughter) and it’s made all about Will and Tessa. what the fuck does this have to do with them? Alexander (not that Alexander, Anna and Christopher’s brother, Gabriel and cecily son) almost dies, gets marked by Tatiana, so little Alexander is pretty much tortured. oh and don’t forget, kidnapped. while there is a search for them, it immediately goes back to Tessa and Will after. nobody gives a fuck about her demon father. Christopher dies and guess what? we don’t see Gabriel or Cecilys reaction. we don’t know how they would act. if James or Lucie died, all hands would be on deck. CC would write 600 pages on everyone grieving them, more James. I don’t know why CC hates the lightwoods but she kills off at least one in every generation. I hope Cecily cut off Will. because if you are making it out about you when my baby almost dies and my other son does die, you’re no longer my brother. CUT HIM OFF CECILY 🗣️ Christopher did not deserve this. just to die and his death means fucking nothing? I’m not surprised people can’t finish chain of thorns. that shit made me want to throw my book out to the Thames.
let’s talk TLH + TID
the merry thieves (minus james):
I was once talking with a friend about the baffling number of Christophers in the TSC verse. Like, it's the second most used name after Jonathan, but unlike with Jonathan, there is no lore behind Christopher. And since I know way more spoilers than I should, my mind just came out with a possible connection between two of the Christophers.
Spoilers for The Last Hours under the cut:
