Marathon training is going
^ how I feel about the first day of marathon training
Ok so technically today is Week 1 Day 2 but I kicked things off yesterday with a rest day. I made the mistake of running during the hottest point of the day (8000 million degrees. But actually around 90 with humidity) and so it was a pretty brutal 5 miles. I think it was the slowest run I’ve had since last summer but better than nothing. Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter and I might have to dreadmill it since I can’t go early. Anyway, here’s to lots more rambling posts and the hope that I acclimate to the heat soon!
Marathon training Week 1 Day 6
It was already 80 degrees when I got up for my run around 7 (so much for beating the heat)!! I was supposed to do a tempo run today but it was way too hot to worry about paces. There will be plenty of other opportunities for speed work. The plan is to get up early again tomorrow for my long run. It’s supposed to be a bit cooler which I’m pretty thrilled about. Am not digging this whole summer training thing so far but we’ll see how it goes.
Most of all I just I can’t believe I’m finishing up my first week of marathon training tomorrow. Am I really doing this?!?!?!?!
It was 87 degrees today and this run was brutal. I was planning to run 5 miles but it was too hot for me so I stopped after ~3. On the bright side, I looked cute in my pre-run selfie!
Not going to lie...I am really not enjoying this summer running thing. Ran 4 miles today and almost melted. I’m trying to remind myself that the harder I work now, the better it’s going to feel in the Fall when the temperatures (and hopefully my paces) drop.
The Queens 10k was definitely less disastrous than last year but still relatively meh. It was like 94% humidity this morning which sucked and I was really not feeling it. My knee has also been giving me issues which I’m nervous about because I’m less than a month away from the start of marathon training. My favorite little cheerleader came out to watch me run today though so that was a plus. Also seeing @paintingpavement at the out and back part of the race was 👌
Have been biking about 30 miles a day since I got to Italy and it's been in the 90s but I finally had a chance to sneak in a run. A quick (ok not so quick) 2 miles through the hotel's vineyard left me a very happy, sweaty, camper
