Marathon training W5D1: 19 km MY DAMN WATCH REFUSED TO RECORD THIS FOR SOME REASON! And I am irrationally anxious about it lol. Like, when my watch wasn't working before I started, I got really freaked out that my long run wouldn't "count" if the data wasn't recorded. But yeah, this was kind of a mixed bag overall. I was really intimidated by the distance going into this. 19 km was my longest run before my half, so it seemed terrifying to be doing it again so early in my plan. And while this wasn't as impossible as I built it up to be, it was HARD. The route I planned ended up being ridiculously hilly, so this absolutely destroyed my legs. Plus my lack of a working watch meant that I never had any idea how far I had left to go, which had a huge mental effect on me. I hadn't realized just how much I was relying on my watch, so this was a bit of a wake up call. Fingers crossed that I can figure out what's wrong with it, though! On the plus side, I went out for a hugely indulgent, just-because lunch date with the boyfriend after, which was an excellent idea. If you've never followed up a long run with wine, bread, and risotto I highly recommend it.
