Gaby Moreno featuring Oscar Isaac - Luna de Xelajú 2023
"Luna de Xelajú" ("Moon of Xelajú") is a popular Guatemalan waltz composed by Paco Pérez in 1944. "Xelajú", or "Xela", is the K'iche' Mayan name for the Guatemalan city Quetzaltenango. It is sometimes referred to as Guatemala's second national anthem, and has been performed by several musical acts throughout the years.
Maria Gabriela Moreno Bonilla is a Guatemalan singer-songwriter and guitarist. Singing in both English and Spanish, Moreno's music covers many genres including Latin, alternative, blues, folk and Americana. She has won one Grammy and two Latin Grammy awards. In 2023, she recorded a collaboration of the song with actor Oscar Isaac, which was released as a single and included on her album X Mí (Vol. 1). "We've performed this song live together a few times and it's always been really special. Just like me, this song also means a lot to Oscar as it honors his roots and family from Guatemala. I'm a huge fan of him as a singer and guitar player," she told Rolling Stone.

On the bright side I heard a few audios of new cast and damn they're amazing (aside from *cough cough* that man).
Joshua Colley's Orpheus sounds so hopeful and naive and literally swept away by love. He's a baby. I like the way he sings "lover, when I sing my song". Can't wait to see how he grows into the role.
Jordan Tyson sounds so much like Anais in this role! She's soft and folksy and so unlike other Eurydices and her Flowers are very similiar to a 2010 concept album. She also is a baby and I want to protect them both at all cost.
J. Harrison Ghee is a literal gem and Gaby Moreno is so good as Persephone. I haven't heard much of their performance, but oh boy do they SHINE. I LOVE all the little quirks and riffs and vibratos J. Harrison does, they're awesome sauce. And Gaby's "goodnight, hermanos" OHHHHHHHHHH.
In the Chant recording I heard Persephone doesn't say "lover" and I deeply hope it's personal. I also hope that the audience booed and will boo when this Hades shows up. I refuse to name him and don't have anything good to say about his performance, it's terrible, it's a nothingburger. Such a shame this wonderful cast has to have such a burden. Can we call Phillip Boykin back again please. Or literally any other Hades.
UPD: leaking full audio of their debut on YouTube after only a few days of performing is crazy work. Hadestown is about to be the most leaked show of the decade or smth can people not wait at least a month before posting. I'm horrified and selfishly fascinated.
