For Gael: ✪ - favourite food/eating habits, ✄ - nervous habits, and ⌨ - time-wasting habits

✪ - fave food would be a kind of pastry Sigyn makes. it has sweet berries in it and is wrapped in filo dough, so it’s all flaky and melts in your mouth. she eats like every meal is her last.

✄ - playing with her ponytail, specifically biting at the end of her hair. biting her nails and tapping her feet.

⌨ - playing with her pets, specifically trying to teach them stupid tricks. trying to get Gump or Gerk to cuddle her without saying anything. making little toys out of scraps of leather

12: Lost in the dark

I knew there was a reason I was sitting on prompts…TO WRITE WHEN I GET BORED YEAH.

Gerkin made an ugly noise when his feet were suddenly flying out from under him and he was crashing to the damp, slippery, very unforgiving stone floor of the cave. He only half heard the noises of surprise and concern form his two companions: his attention was rather focused on the sharp new pain that was radiating from the elbow he had landed mostly on. He knew very well that they were supposed to be keeping quiet, but faced with these new developments he couldn’t quite bite back the hissed string of curses. 

He was hauling himself onto his knees when a hand grabbed his shoulder. He knew it was more than likely Gael or Gumpers come to check on him, but the shaman was so on edge in the pitch black of the cave that he nearly jumped out of his skin and let slip a tiny yelp of surprise. Gumpers’ voice was shushing him the next moment, and the hand on his shoulder tightened a bit for emphasis.

“Sorry,” he whispered miserably, and though he tried very hard to keep it from doing so, his voice still shook. He heard the scuff of boot on stone that announced Gael before she was placing her hand on his other shoulder and rubbing it comfortingly,

“Its not far now,” she whispered to him, “Do you think you can make it another few minutes?”

Gerkin wrapped his arms around himself to keep from outright shaking and drew a calming breath. It was supposed to be calming anyway: he didn’t feel much of anything other than anxious, and that wasn’t about to change as long as they were stuck down here in the dark.

“Ah’ll haf’ to, ah’ guess.” he murmured to her, and blindly felt around until he found Gumpers’ outstretched hand, which he braced himself against in order to climb back to his feet. The paladin remained at his side this time, and did not scamper off ahead to scout the path. He moved Gerkin’s hand to the adjacent wall which the troll was eager to use as a guide. 

“We’ll be out of here soon, alright?” Gael’s voice was murmuring from a few paces ahead as they continued along. Gerkin could only hope that she was right.

OT3G COFFEESHOP GO :DDDDDD

OKAY SO THREE SENTENCES IS A JOKE. I COULDN’T BE CONCISE IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. HAVE A COUPLE PARAGRAPHS INSTEAD XD

He supposed perhaps the extra chatting he’d done with them at first could have been overlooked: he was employed as a barista for a trendy coffee chain, it was practically in his job description to be needlessly talkative. And he supposed the little hearts he’d put int he foam of their lattes the next week could have been missed too—they’d ordered them to drink, not to admire after all. And he could only hope that the right people were taking notice of the little smiles he was shooting across the cafe. Really, he wasn’t sure how much more obvious he could be without walking right over to their table and blurting something out. 

He jumped a bit at the tap on his shoulder and was surprised to discover his manager standing there holding out a tray with a couple slices of cake,

“Will you just go talk to them already?” she said with her characteristic little half smirk. She pushed the tray into his hands and did her best not to laugh at the half shocked expression he was wearing. Instead she took him by the shoulders and steered him out from behind the counter, “Honestly, I’m going to go crazy if I have to watch you make goo-goo eyes at them for another minute. Go and say hello and don’t come back until you do.”

Drabble Asks: Song, with Gump and Gael

Song: My charcter singing a song to yours, or vice versa.

It was silent as a crypt in the treehouse – not a noise could be heard over the rumbling thunder rolling outside. Gael and Gump were in bed, neither touching the other, both turned to opposite sides and watching the lightning storm from two separate windows.

“Gael?” The paladin whispered, clenching his pillow in his hand. He heard a faint murmur of acknowledgement. “Are we going to be ok without him?”

When she didn’t respond, Gump flipped over. Gael had curled into a ball, shaking like a leaf. A bolt of lightning surged, and Gump saw tears rolling down her face, her eyes squinted shut.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, burying his face in her hair and whispering comforting words, but still she cried. They laid like that for several minutes -  the silence only broken by a thunder clap or muffled hiccups - before Gumpers began humming under his breath stroking Gael’s hair.

He began softly singing an old Thalassian lullaby Gael’s mother used to sing them to sleep with, the words hanging in the air for a moment at a time. 

The last words of the lullaby stayed, passing like a breeze through the room, sending both blood elves slowly off to sleep.

"Al diel shala, dalah’surfal, vendel’o eranu."

Safe travels, my love - help me forget.

“Ah’ told yah’ ah’ didn’t want t’do dis. Ah’ told both’a yah’, but nobody listens to me. Lets just take da’ troll, who lived in da’ fahkin’ tropics all his life, and bring him to da’ top of a freezin’ cold, snowy mountain across da’ fahkin’ country. Yeah, dat’ was a great idea.” Gerkin’s complaining was cut short by a particularly violent sneeze, followed by pathetic groaning and sniffling and he drew the skimpy inn blankets tighter around himself. 

From across the room, where she was quietly putting away her traveling armor Gael paused for a sigh and turned to look over her shoulder at her miserable companion,

“Its not like we had a choice.” She replied softly, “We needed the money and this was the only job left when we got there.”

“Ah’ told yah’ ah’ didn’t have winter clothes,” Gerkin grumbled, and Gael could tell from across the room that he was shivering terribly. She hoped that Gumpers would return soon with the extra blankets she had sent him down for. The hunter rose from where she was knelt on the floor and moved across the room to sit down on the bed beside her companion. She quietly wrapped her arms around his shoulders and did not meet his eyes when he shifted to look at her.

“I’m sorry,” she finally whispered. Gerkin sat up stiffly and drew her into a hug and tried very hard to keep his shivering under control,

“No, ah’m sorry, ah’ didn’t mean t’upset yah’.” He said quickly, “Ah’m just cold an’ hungry an’ kinda’ sick after runnin’ around in the snow…don’t be sad, luv,” 

Gael made a noncommittal noise in her throat before shifting and slipping out of the embrace. She trotted back over to where she had folded her coat and traveling mantle and scooped them up,

“Well, we can’t have you freezing like this either way,” she said and brought her things back over to her companion, who greeted their arrival with little more than a confused quirk of an eyebrow.

By the time Gumpers finally returned with the extra blankets, Gael had stuffed Gerkin into every spare coat and cloak they had between them, not to mention an array of scarves and hats and even a couple of gloves dangling off the tips of his tusks. The paladin couldn’t help dissolving into laughter at the sight of him, Gael on the other hand, had never looked more pleased.
