#gallbladder removal

ALHAMDULILLAH my surgery was successful! surgeon said my gallbladder "looked like it had been inflammed for a long time" and "definitely needed to come out" as it was adhered onto my liver with scar tissue. i am so grateful. he said this may not fix everything (i have other chronic conditions besides this), but based on how bad it looked, removing my gallbladder will definitely improve my quality of life.

thank you to everyone who was praying for me. and of course all thanks and praise to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, my protector and my strength. i know He has placed me in the best hands, my parents and my husband, who are helping me recover.

Surgery recovery is going well enough, as long as I stay on top of the meds and don't sit upright (puts pressure on the incisions). The hard part right now is that I just want an hour at the piano, preferably accompanied by a giant Baja Blast, and both are currently forbidden 💔

It's days like this I wish I had a gallbladder. You eat one thing and your body is like "hm this was fine yesterday but I don't fw it now I changed my mind. You have ten seconds to make it to the bathroom btw"

Hey all! I got my gallbladder removed! I'm recovering from the surgery currently but I'm feeling sooo much better!

As for the icky and nitty gritty details, it turned out I had a huge gallstone (along with a ton of tiny ones) that took up about 1/4 of my gallbladder and caused a blockage of nasty sludge in my gallbladder. I have pictures, but I'll spare you the images! Long story short I'm all better now! :)

Post Surgery Update:

I had my gallbladder out yesterday with no complications.

The most pain I’m in is because of the air (carbon dioxide) they inflated my abdomen with to remove the offending organ, so I’m walking around when I’m able.

My gallbladder... was in really bad shape when they took it out. Because of that, I have a drainage bag attached to me, but it should be removed in a few days.

Coughing is a nightmare.

I should come home today if everything does according to plan.
