So I have no health insurance and my gallbladder has decided it wants to be into arts and crafts

I do not want to get into details but it was gross so I drove myself to the ER last night and they gave me nausea and pain meds through a saline IV and sent me on my way with a script for an ultrasound and one for anti nausea and pain dissolving pills. This morning I told my friends and family and they all flipped their shits. Uou would have thought the doctor told me to shotgun beers and go to an all you can eat buffet. This morning my friend Gabthulu (only not her name because we name people before they have their personalities) helped me out tons. We made an appointment for the ultrasound and got my scripts filled. Things I would have put off indefinitely because man I was feeling fine so what difference does it make. We were at the pharmacy and the pharmacist told me how much the meds were. $87 for my 6 anti nausea pills and $35 for my stupid pain pills. Having been solidly broke I got the nausea pills. She kept saying how ridiculous it all was! I was obviously in pain! When I was trying to make appointments and the receptionist kept saying "So you want to know the price for self pay?" Instead of offering me appointments the sarcasm on her face was probably melting the woman's makeup. I kept saying "What difference does it make if I have to have this to live?! I am gonna pay somehow!" After all that Gabby was pretty much like "Ok so you can't go back to school because you keep talking about how pretty blue your puke is." And then helped me clean up some of that lovely puke from the door of the car. She also has a dad that is a doctor. A dad which she convinced to look at my ultrsounds and recommend me for surgery. I have met this man twice in my life. She doesn't ask him for anything! So I went to my mom's to wait for the ultrasound appointment. Now my mom isn't really that nurturing. She is a "kick the babies from the nest to teach them to fly even if we are in fact salamanders and not birds at all" kind of mom. When she found out what happened she gave me the pills I needed and let me take a nap. A nap which was immediately interrupted by a call from her husband who happens to work at a different hospital. She told him what happened and used word combos like "completely fucking ridiculous" and "well I am going to send her to your hospital next time and you have to make sure she is taken care of!" Like the cafeteria guy is really influential in the internal medicines department.I mean everyone is influenced by food witholding but still... My ex even footed the bill for the $135 ultrasound, and my nausea meds! (For those keeping track that is a total of $257 not including the hospital bill for the private hospital I went to. That has yet to arrive.) Later Jerpuppy came over to help me get stuff I needed from upstairs because stairs and gallbladders are secret nemises. He made like a hubdred trips up there and was just amazing. Everyone in my life is so amazing and I am so loved! I had no idea I was so lucky, and could cry from the joy. On the other hand my secret desire and deepest fear is I am being dramatic and everyone is worrying over a gas pocket.

so I'm going for surgery on Wednesday and I don't think I'm scared or worried or anything like that. I think I feel excited.. and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing..

Still sick. Not as sick. By afternoon will surely be mobile. In the meantime... Cool thing: A study of patients after gall bladder surgery recovering in two hospital rooms, one that looked out at a brick wall and one that looked out at some trees. Patients were paired on relevant variables that might affect recovery, such as age, sex, tobacco use etc.. Results showed that in comparison to the wall group, the tree-view patients had shorter post-op stays, fewer negative evaluative comments from nurses, took fewer strong analgesic doses and even had slightly lower rates of post-op complications.
