Inspired by Jan Tichy's Changing Chicago exhibition and Expanded Moment project, we at Gallery 400 are inviting you to take a moment to stop, reflect, and film the city landscape in flux. Our current exhibition After Today considers the ways in which Chicago has changed and is continuing to change at a rapid rate. Exploring issues like gentrification, the housing market, violence, police presence, mass incarceration, the prison industrial complex, and the stratification of race and class, our exhibition has us wondering what will tomorrow look like after today? Interested in participating? The video about was created by the Art Assignment and explains how your video should be framed and shot. Upload your video to Youtube or Vimeo, then email the gallery a link to your video. We'll be uploading them to this Tumblr and sharing via our Facebook.

As part of the @gallery400 community engagement plan for our "After Today" exhibition, we are creating and asking our community members and friends to film brief video snapshots of Chicago. Inspired by @j_tichy and his Expanded Moment video project, these videos offer views of a city landscape in flux, as each moment and each frame shows movement and change. Interested in participating in this project with the Gallery? Here's how: find a spot that will show some sort of movement over time. Set your camera so that it won't move, on a tripod or a ledge. Frame your shot and film your view. Remove the sound from your video. The longer format videos should be two minutes, and are going to be on our website, Tumblr, and Facebook (you can email to me or the gallery via YouTube or Vimeo links). The Instagram posts will be 15 seconds in length. And hashtag along with us! #ExpandedMoments #AfterToday #Gallery400 #Chicago (at CTA Blue Line - Damen Station)
