for historical fiction recs, the first book I thought of is Queen's Own Fool by Jane Yolen. it's about Mary Queen of Scots (so not a fictional person), but it's told from the point of view of her largely fictional friend. idk if it's what you're looking for but I just really like it

I LOVE THAT MOVIE

ISN’T IT GREAT just aushfjask the artsiness, the visuals, the symbolism, the camerawork, the soundtrack... it’s wonderful but everytime it gets near the ending I just feel this weight on my shoulders... but that’s actually “great” in a way as well, as that’s the emotion what the movie is obviously trying to deliver and it’s amazing for succeeding. But it just gets me down. BUT IT’S SO BEAUTIFUL.
