Sadly... himself. Salem is still wary of strangers, and holds all of his cards close to his chest at all times. Though he’s had a couple of years to see the world, he’s still a bit like a wild animal you’ve just brought in to try to domesticate. While he remains polite in most situations, Salem will still instantly withdraw from anyone who tries to get close (physically and emotionally), and will almost never reach out to ask for help (weakness is dangerous) unless it’s literal life or death. He wasn’t this way before he left the Church, so he recognizes how lonely living like this can be, but he’s still looking for proof that others won’t come to hurt him if he decides to rely on or trust them for anything.

Even during the time that he was recovering from his injuries, he wasn’t comfortable letting Pan or the others of the Dandelion gang take care of him, and did whatever he could to hold his own.

✮ - sleeping habits

ooh, thank you for this! i have a bunch stored in my brain that i’m eager to share with you all!

it takes her a long time before she can even bring herself to close her eyes. even as midnight approaches, one might find her still wide awake, pacing around in her room or reading a book under lamplight. this is not to say she barely sleeps;; in fact, she gets quite a lot of it. 8-10 hours on average. but the process of making her fall asleep is nevertheless a tedious one. the only time she’ll fall asleep without a peep is when she’s truly been exhausted;; should it come to that, you can find her sleeping even with her headpiece still on.

she dislikes sleeping in the dark. there is always a dim light in her room to accompany her in her slumber. whenever her bedroom is pitch dark, she honestly can’t even lie down on her bed.

she likes snuggling under piles of blankets. she also likes hugging a pillow to sleep. something about it soothes her, even as she grows older. perhaps it reminds her of when she weren’t so alone?

she doesn’t snore, but she is prone to mumbling in her sleep. when she’s having a particularly bad dream, she’ll start biting down her tongue and clenching her fists, even as she’s deep in slumber.

it’s difficult to wake her up in the morning. it usually takes people 2-3 tries before they can get her to even flutter open an eyelid. the only person whose wake-up call she’ll heed to without hesitation is bruno.

[ Saltwater taffy ]: "Ewan! They have really great taffy here, not as good as Frelia's, but it makes me reminiscent~ Here, try some!" She holds a bag of wrapped taffy in bright pastel colors out with one hand while the other was already covered in sticky taffy.

Now this, he can get behind. Eyes alight with anticipation, the Jehannan gladly accepts, prying a stick of taffy from the bag and chomping down. Bliss...! Pure bliss. He hums gratefully, eyes closing in an attempt at fully savouring the offering. Sticky but chewy... albeit not unpleasantly so. He wonders, idly, how it might pair with something that has a bit more crunch. . .

Either way, his expression, even as eyes flutter open, radiates happiness.

“Aw, thank you Tana, you’re the best. I’ll definitely have to get myself a bag. You’re right though, Frelia’s is better.”

But, speaking of Frelia.

“Here you are with wondrous delicacies... And meanwhile, can you believe that brother of yours tried to feed me a candied onion? Tsk.” He shakes his head. The man would pay for his hubris.
