Unpopular Opinion: Bullying game developers into making diverse games only makes the game dull, the developer uninspired and disgruntled, and the industry stagnant.
P.S. I’m not white. Bullying game developers OF ALL RACES AND NATIONALITIES into making games the way an antifa-liberal wants only serves to scare off aspiring developers, leaving only the veterans to face a wave of next-gen gamers. And if antifa-liberal ‘facts’ are to be trusted, these veterans will consist mainly of straight white folk in white countries. Therefore these AFs(antif-libs) are actually keeping the industry, err.. “monocolored”. Now the non-white developers who do decide to pursue a career in the industry find themselves conflicted, insecure, and frightened. Of what, you ask? Of AF opinions and bullying. “You’re not white. Why are you making a game full of white people???” So instead of making great games with great lore and great gameplay, they settle for mediocre games with shallow lore and bland gameplay just to make ends meet. BUT AT LEAST ITS CHARACTERS ARE DIVERSE, RIGHT? Developers - regardless of who they are; their race, faith, or nationality - should be free to make games in accordance to their ideas, inspirations, and personal aspirations. They should be free to make non-diverse characters. They should be free to create monocultural worlds for their games. There shouldn’t be some makeshift quota for adding “diverse” characters into their games for the hell of it. Adding gay characters just so there’s a gay character undermines them as actual persons. Adding racial minorities in what’s supposed to be a mono-racial, mono-cultural state undermines these minorities. By calling out games for “under-representing” certain groups, you imply that the worth of the members of these groups can only be measured by their representation in entertainment.......
Forcing diversity only causes people to hate it even more. What are you going to do if, say, a team of Filipino game developers decided they want to make a game about ancient norsemen and vikings? Bully them into adding Filipinos in it?
It should also be worth noting that playing a game and only focusing - AND making a big deal of - on whether or not there’s enough asians in a primarily black ingame ethnostate makes you a shite gamer.
