I've been thinking about this a lot considering that Splatoon 3 is about to end its content updates.
When people (mainly casual fans and game journalists) say, "oh Splatoon 3 feels more of the same! They need to do something dramatically different for the next game! The series has to evolve!"
I agree with that statement... but like... when you say that you want significant changes in the gameplay to where Splatoon 4 is nowhere near the same as Splatoon 3, what do you mean by that?
Like seriously, what the hell do you mean by significant and dramatic changes to the formula? Can you name some examples? You want a battle royale mode? Do you want a gimmick of some kind? Do you want the Inklings to turn into werewolves at night? Do you want the Inklings to be given a ring that gives them fiery powers? Do you want them to be given a talking sword, LIKE WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!?!?
there's a fun subset of people on this website who seem to think that basing your whole personality on a specific series is like, a political statement. im not talking about like dedicated sideblogs its more directly the crowd of "i hate harry potter so i've moved on to discworld and nothing else" or "i hate our flag means death so im consuming only black sails" and like, i get it, you're all geeks and nerds, but you CANNOT let yourself become the Disney Adults of the Intelligentsia. take your own advice and read something else. the hakkenden is about a dog that spiritually gets a woman pregnant and the octuplets are all samurai with weird birthmarks. crime and punishment is about a hot guy who believes that because he's hot he can do whatever and Immediately gets got. maybe watch captain blood or the sea hawk and get a better understanding of the pirate genre in cinema. you NEED to diversify your watchlists with experiences you kinda disliked you CANNOT let yourself get stagnant or else you'll become someone who thinks that new italian game Horses is groundbreakingly degenerate for being like, baby's first heavy-handed metaphor.
He did it… Sonic actually did it… Sonic actually defeated Mario in not just the public eye, but even the game journalists agree… Even Sonic's biggest haters, IGN, agree that Sonic Racing Crossworlds is better than Mario Kart World… He did it… He won… 🥲 I'm so, so happy…

Gaming journalists, I BEG OF YOU, stop saying that games are free if what you're promoting is a free Demo. I understand it gets more clickbaity engagement, I understand your boss probably told you to do so, but FOR GOD'S SAKE IF I OPEN UP ONE MORE ARTICLE THAT READS "this FREE GAME on Steam Is a perfect blend of dadada and blah blah blah 2" and it links me to an article about a demo of a game that costs upwards of 50 dollars on release, I will put every book you have in your home into a blender with your tears and I will make recycled paper.
Put the word DEMO into the article title or so help me god I will sneak into your house, hide under your bed on a warm night, and when you stick out your foot in your sleep I will grab it with such force that you will move houses.
That is all.
