Game Tracks - First Real Session...EVER
So Chris (Menthro), A.J. (Pack/Packsince), and I (Tribble/Eric/God) just got done recording 5 different takes of the first Game Tracks (I still think Game Trax or G4M3 TR4X is so much more...internet....y) episode. Tomorrow I'll will do the editing for it and hopefully upload it for this coming Friday. Too bad that I have no idea what to expect from this project. We have 5 different 7 minute takes of watching the footage. However, some of our jokes in one take that were good were at the same time as others during another take. We also referenced jokes from previous takes which, don't get me wrong were hilarious, would make no sense to the viewing audience at all haha.
In terms of technicality, this shouldn't be that hard of an edit. Just some audio adjustments and splicing but not much else. My main concern is the potential tedium (probably didn't use that word properly) of the project. I remember many of the, you could say, "highlight" jokes (I'm a slogan factory I know). Those were the ones that really stood out and were a definite keep in the final cut. But then there was everything else. The rest of the lines were good if said at the right time, others could be moved, and the rest were crap. I just don't know how this is going to play out. This first episode was the intro sequence of Modern Warfare 2 (o yea, that game I failed to mention we were doing at the start of this post). So there is about 4 or 5 minutes of just of very little actual STUFF to work off of. All that happens is a bunch of green shit flying around and one of the most un-informative montages in the history of anything ever. As Chris put it, "The whole beginning is totally left up to our comedic talent." To my knowledge, this was said sarcastically. If it wasn't, I will be sending someone a short bus for Christmas. All of this, to me, is rather unfortunate because the later episodes seem like they will go FAR easier than this. I've already recorded most of the footage to somewhere around episode 5. Those later missions vary in quality for sure, but there is just so much more to work with than flying green...stuffs.
All in all, I hope the editing goes smooth. More importantly though, I hope that the Pilot episode turns out better than I anticipate. That or no one hates it enough to never see any episodes after it. We'll see what happens when I edit tomorrow. If all goes well, I will post here tomorrow about my experience editing it. If all goes poorly, I will still make a post but there will be a lot more crying and profanity involved.
