You can argue it’s a nightmare, but it seems I had this dream enough times to get used to it and every time I returned with a bit more information and skills than before. I can tell I used to be scared terrified of it but now I’m mostly wary than anything else. I still get a lot of scares tho.
WARNING: HORROR STUFF AND MUTILATION
The Endless House
It’s an old house down a hill, surrounded by a forest that covers the backside of the house, from the outside it looks like the house is merging into the forest. At the top of the hill is a lone tree that I consider “purifying” for some reason I can’t remember. The house has a lot of vertical windows but all of them have a green thin and hard material instead of glass. I somehow knew it was a kind of spell to keep evil things trapped inside so I took photos of it in hopes to eventually ask some expert how to replicate it (Not that it served me any good since it was a dream). The spell was chipped here and there, some parts missed but the spell still worked, in any case, the things meant to be inside never got this far.
Entering the house, the place looks small and simple, with few decorations and nothing breakable over tables and such, almost designed to run from the end corridor to the door at full speed without bumping nor breaking anything. There are a few doors at the sides that lead to other rooms, bathroom, and kitchen but that’s the normal, “safe” part.
The terrifying part is the end corridor.
Upon entering it, you never know what you will find and most importantly, where you will end. The place is always changing and it can create an endless dungeon if you keep walking. Going back leads you to the same places if you have a good memory and sense of direction, getting out can be easy peasy. But if you decide to go in again or halfway, it will change. That’s why is also easy to get separated from anyone else, never let them stray. And never forget everyone have their own way out. If you ever stray, beg for your friend to remember their way out so you can stick to them.
Now to add some enemies!
A horror game is never horror without someone trying to kill you, right? Welcome the Lost Souls, maniacs that got lost inside the house and never found their way back. These guys will never find their way to the living space, that’s why it’s “safe”. These Lost Souls will wander the house forever in whatever state they were when they got claimed by the house.
Some wander slowly, never stopping with a defeated stance and lost gaze, almost zombielike. I call them Wanderers. You never know how these guys will react once they notice you, some will try to reach you but most will never look at you. If bumped they might just stagger or fall and stay there for a good while. They are pretty lifeless. But that’s the trap because once in a while you’ll find a motherfucker that will scream at your face like a banshee and attack with distorted features. (Never getting near one of those again)
The Victims are another kind of trap. They are usually children curled and crying in a corner. You know better than to approach them, right? I don’t know what they can do to you since the only time I made some noise and a little girl noticed me, “Hello? Is someone there?” she asked in her innocent voice and then she crawled uncannily fast toward me and I ran back out like a bat out of hell.
Then are the Eccentrics. Don’t trust them. They seem friendly, happy to find a new face. Some even look like they just got lost and want to stick with you or insist that they totally know their way out. They can get you lost, pushing to take you to places that are not your way out. I’ve even encountered some that won’t try to mislead you but will talk nonsense and do stuff that will give you the chills. Too far gone mentally to want to stick to them for more than a minute, one even gave me the feeling that would have tried to kill me if I stayed.
The Murderers! Yes, you know those. Basically, fighters that will gut everything new on their path and of course, you are new to them. Expect any weapon from them or no weapon at all. They will try to take you down with their bare fists if necessary. These guys usually also armored themselves before getting lost, so expect terrifying looks from these bastards, they also horde the best weapons they could find in the house, and this house has enough armories and torture chambers where you could find horrible weapons. These guys are the main responsible of also gutting other Lost Souls, before and sometimes after getting lost. And are also the main culprits as to why almost all Lost Souls looks horribly mutilated. Wanderers usually leave their injuries like that and Eccentrics try to mend themselves.
And lastly... The Possessed. I don’t know what’s up with those guys. They just float looking at the ceiling, body completely limp and seemingly unmoving. I’m not even sure if they breathe, they always look pale and even bluish. They don’t react to Wanderers near them so I don’t know what they can do.
I think that’s about it.
The dream has a pretty gamelike design that totally makes it really interesting to do something with it, but I’m terrible with horror stuff so I decided to just... document it and leave it at that. If anyone ever wants to use this setting for something, you are free to as long as you tag me/reference this dream so I can give it a look.
I will update with whatever I can remember or if I ever remember the dream again after waking up another time.
I came across this drill that I think is similar in structure to ones lots of coaches use. By that I mean it attempts to replicate a sequence of actions a player will experience in the game. In this case, it’s serve-defend-attack.
I’m assuming there’s no one that the player is actually serving at on the other side, though perhaps there’s a target of some kind. It also looks like the defense ball…
