So I watched the Gameplay teaser for FSi:tGwST

Please beware some gameplay spoilers for those going in purely blind but this will be some highlights. It has also been a while since I’ve played the first game so bare with me if a mess things up.

Also to note, there appears to be returning characters from the online game

To begin, this gameplay segment does begin I’d say a pretty decent way into the start of the game, the player is lv 15 and most enemies are around the 8-10 range. They are playing a Paladin class and have most likely met Rem and done some work in the village by this point.

First off, dodging mechanics and a much more fluid combat system. Given the massive leap in terms of both gameplay type and hardware from the 3DS, that’s kind of a given. Plus from what I understand, the combat’s more like the Online game.

We also meet these Eye of Sauron/Azran looking towers. There are multiple. These towers seem to be tied to something called Area Rank which will allow you to get better resources/stronger monsters.

The PC has a tablet that gives me heavy BtoW/ToTK vibes. Seems to be called a Pad.

Fast travel seems to be a thing.

Next up we meet this bear/werewolf looking guy called Mr. Don. He’s some sort of merchant and helping him out gives you a camel.

Speaking of camels, seems like mounts have been reworked. Looks like renting a mount (Thank goodness) has been done away with instead of a PLA-esque system. Seems that different mounts will have different abilities going off using the Camel to cross hot sand.

We also are introduced to Phantoms in the form of Colin. Temporary “ghost” party members that can join you before you turn their respective Strangelings back.

Edward is now a detective all because we found somebody’s trousers. Oi donald, where are your trousers.

And we finally get to see how the strangelings work. Once again, def getting some BoTW/ToTK vibes since they’re tied to what is no doubt a trial.

Dragon has time travel device up its nose, seems like our hub world and the open world are two separate areas.

What follows next shows some more interesting stuff: Combat events/trials ala Xenoblade, we see the Job switching in action, and also Leafy (Seems like we’r getting a Korok mechanic thrown in)

The Mining Dimension has always been one of my favorite places to explore in modded games. A large part of this is that hostile mobs are generally prevented from spawning. This gives you some breathing room as you first get started in a new world.

But, while hostile mobs rarely spawn, passive mobs spawn frequently, creating herds of wild livestock that can provide food for hungry adventurers. Thanks to Pam's HarvestCraft, groves of maple trees also appear throughout the Mining Dimension, and between these trees and the local swine, you'll have easy access to maple cured ham, a very filling food that would soon become a staple.

However, all is not so quiet in this game. Tinker's Construct now creates floating islands fairly often, and these places are made from the slimiest dirt imaginable. The result of this is that hostile blue slimes spawn everywhere, even in the supposed safety of this dimension.
