We talked with Oddworld Inhabitants' co-founder Lorne Lanning at E3 about the technology going into this new game.
"It's not a revolutionary game - it's an evolutionary game upon the platformer genre, turning it more into a 2.9D, more fully immersible and emergent simulation of the world where you're provoking trouble and the world starts changing around you," Lanning explained. "And we got all that running, but as I say it's an evolution upon the genre about a revolutionary experience, so we're doing evolutionary technology in the genre about revolution, because really that's where this series is headed, right? Abe starts at the bottom in the worst place you'd ever wanna be, and just through desperation of trying to stay alive and trying to help others that are in a similar circumstance, winds up starting to affect economies, shutting down factories, and eventually leads to uprisings that leads to movements that will lead to revolutions that will eventually change the world."

Mortal Kombat 11 Story Reportedly 8 Hours Long
Mortal Kombat 11 is due out on April 23 and dating back to Mortal Kombat 9, the series has included a normally good story mode. The story modes have been so good that other franchises have incorporated one in some sort of way, and its become a mainstay for NeatherRealm Studios games such as Injustice.

Ubisoft took the opportunity to offer two very beautiful artworks.
Michel Ancel and his Ubisoft Montpellier team are working hard to create the best possible experience for Beyond Good & Evil 2. We already knew that the French developer intends to ask the community for their opinions through the Space Monkeys program which was announced at E3. Today, the devs need your help to create their next environment. You can choose between five locations that give us some clues as to what we could be in for. Visit the official website (x) to make your voice heard on one of the most anticipated games in development:
"What types of environments are you looking forward to discovering, exploring and expressing yourselves in, as free pirates in System 3? Here's a short list of some of the places we've been thinking about—tell us where your imagination takes you, Space Monkeys!
• Secret Pirate lairs on asteroids, spaceports, dormant volcanic craters... • Black markets in city slums • Treacherous mining operations • Lush valleys with sacred temples • Legendary treasures hidden in uncharted territories across space"
Furthermore, three new pieces of concept art was released:
Co-founder Lorne Lanning told us about the balance between serious themes and dark humour in Oddworld: Soulstorm.
"Humour's always a critical part, and you know at the end of the day we're making serious games that are seriously funny. First of all, it's gotta be a great game, no matter what message you wanna embed or subtext or this or that - it's gotta be a great game because that's where people are putting their money and their value. And then hopefully it can be an inspiring game beyond just games."
Lanning went on to say that the team has had "thousands of stories of the influence that Abe's had on [fans'] lives, and one of the things we always do - speaking of lives - is infinite lives. That's because we never want you to be a loser, right, and there's nothing that makes me feel a loser like 'you didn't do it right three times, now do it all over damn it' and you're like 'that sucked!' That was a quarter-driven mentality, philosophy for making games, but for us it's like, you fail and then boop, you're reborn pretty close by to your last failed position and you can keep on going until you succeed."

GAMEREACTOR Finland reviews Goodbye Volcano High!!
Dinosaurusteinien oppivuosi
By Petter Lundberg. Some translated highlights:
Goodbye Volcano High and the musical apocalypse. -Along with surprises like Dave the Diver and Viewfinder, Goodbye Volcano High from the KO_OP game house deserves its share of the spotlight. -Goodbye Volcano High follows the adventures of Fang, who is celebrating their senior year, in a world where dinosaur characters sketched as humans are facing a new one. Strange phenomena interfering with cell phone networks plague the activities of Fang and their friends, even though their thoughts wander beyond the everyday mundanities. -Planning further studies and piloting the band that Fang founded with their friends in the pits of the talent competition take surprising turns in the game adventure, which combines the text-driven storytelling of visual novel games and the relaxed music playing of rhythm games, mainly with pleasant results. -The story, which creates fear and tension towards an uncertain future, strongly reminds me of the indie adventure Season: A Letter to the Future (2023), which deals with the same themes. -In the spirit of the Life Is Strange game series (2015-), Goodbye Volcano High, which combines pop indie rock and interpersonal twists, relies on excellently animated scenes in its narration. The colorful Game World and the personable characters look like a modern Netflix animated series at its best, which would be fine to stream. -The excellent sound show and the music side make sure that Goodbye Volcano High is quite an interesting whole in terms of audiovisual talent. You can get a feel for the music composed by Omar Dabbous with the help of rhythm mini-games, which undoubtedly surprise you with their pace. -Goodbye Volcano High offers a special and interesting game experience for the winter days of the beginning of the year. -Above all, those who enjoyed the games of the Life Is Strange series should take the introductions of Fang and their partners to the test if the time starts to get long while waiting for the next Life Is Strange.
