Gameweek 36 Overview

The gameweek which may have just decided the title race. City's win over United put them in pole position, leading the Devils on goal difference. With just 2 games remaining, that could be crucial. However, from a fantasy perspective, the more interesting results were those of Tottenham. Yes, they faced two teams in the relegation dogfight, but given Spurs previous form, many doubted their ability to beat them. Kyle Walker, Van der Vaart, Adebayor and Bale all performed well, with Van der Vaart topping the points chart with a whopping 22 points. Now that they are back in the groove, I expect it would be a good idea to add a couple of them to your roster, especially since their remaining fixtures are a hopeless Villa and Fulham at the Lane. Another interesting result was Wigan's 4-0 whipping of Newcastle. Despite their recent string of good results, few would've expected the Latics to win by such a margin. Admittedly they rode their luck at times, but even so, take nothing away from the performance of the players. Victor Moses in particular was stellar, getting 16 points despite that being his only game that weekend. Everton also enjoyed a 4-0 victory of their own over Fulham. The Toffee's were irresistible at Goodison where Pienaar continued his immense form since rejoining from Spurs. Jelavic continued his solid scoring run as well, netting himself 2 goals in that game. Their second fixture ended in a more drab 1-1 draw with Stoke. Much less to talk about here.

Gameweek 35 Overview

We've decided to make our Overviews a little shorter, just to save ourselves and yourselves time. A few talking points include Arsenal and Chelsea's boring 0-0 draw, many manager would've benched Arsenal and Chelsea defenders for this fixture, with expectations of a Chelsea win or RVP goal. However, for those who sold RVP, it proved to be a great decision. Staying at North London, Spurs have slumped to yet another defeat, which will probably have you reconsider the decision of getting Bale, Adebayor or VDV for the upcoming double gameweek. As for Manchester United, Pienaar rose to the occasion along with on-from Jelavic. If you're looking for a striker for next gameweek, Jelavic is your man. Pienaar also can prove to be a suitable replacement for the off-form Sessegnon. A sentence about the club with the worst manager, Liverpool (Dalglish's Failures FC) lost to West Brom. Dalglish has proved, yet again, that he should be sacked; John Werner, if you're reading this, he might be a Kop legend, but he's taking Liverpool nowhere (unless we win the FA cup, then again give him an ultimatum for the Europa League trophy). Meanwhile, Manchester City rode to victory against Awful FC (Wolves) reigniting their title chase. As for those who played for the double gameweek, Eagles, Petrov, N'Zogbia. They were the big names.

For next week, it's likely that many people have geared towards maximum benefit from the double gameweek, so look out for it!

Gameweek 33 Overview

This gameweek resulted in a number of shock occurences in the BPL; Spurs losing to Norwich, QPR beating Swansea, Wigan beating Man Utd. and most surprisingly of all, Andy Carroll scored a goal! Papiss continued his magnificent run of goalscoring and RVP has seen to have gotten his touch back. All in all, this gameweek has resulted in a lot of issues which FPL managers may want to consider about their team.

Theo Walcott is in raging form at the moment, making goals and scoring goals. I would say he should easily do the same against Wigan however I'm still in shock from watching the United game in which Wigan dominated (much like they did in the Chelsea game) however Arsenal are at home for this game so I would still predict an easy win for the Gunners but with Moses in the form he's in at the moment anything is possible. Sunderland, depsite a disappointing result being demolished by Everton, should be looking forward to having some goal scoring practice against Wolves who are in tatters right now. Also, major news for FPL managers this week is the news that Sergio Aguero is back and on his return has already bagged 2 goals AND 2 assists. As an avid Man Utd. fan I can't buy Aguero as I'd find myself wanting City to lose desperately but at the same time want Aguero to beast it up however for all those all care solely about fantasy points, Aguero may be a sensible choice.

My predictions this week did not go very well, mainly because I was banking on Valencia destroying Wigan like he's done before but the pressure of relegation has caused Wigan to play absolutely amazing. Song did end up getting points for an assist and 1 for the clean sheet so he did well, however if you have money go for Walcott every time. Cisse continued his unbelievable start to his Newcastle career with yet another goal, he can't be tamed. Fortune, in hindsight, was a rather silly choice but I was more hopeful that City would continue their dreadful form. Valencia and Sessegnon both disappointed as well. I don't rate Valencia very highly, I think Nani and Young are both significantly more dangerous than him however he is significantly cheaper and seems to get more points so he is the more economically viable choice for a midfielder.

Gameweek 32 Overview

This gameweek saw a few results that got us thinking and possibly celebrating. Newcastle's Cisse continued his hot form against Swansea, while Fulham recorded a persuasive 3-0 away win at the Reebok Stadium. Ivanovic scored (again), Liverpool disappointed yet again at Anfield; and now Liverpool supporters have to answer to Dalglish's failures (in terms of performance and transfer policy). Manchester United's Ashley Young somehow picked up a penalty although blatantly offside, and Arsenal gunned down the sinking Manchester City ship.

Few things fans will be considering include Tottenham's dip in form, Manchester City's failure to win anything, and Dalglish's possible sacking. FPL managers will be hoping Tottenham get back to winning ways, especially Bale. Manchester City should be contemplating the sacking of Roberto Mancini. Honestly, you give the guy a transfer budget double the size of Manchester United; and you don't win anything? As for Dalglish, Liverpool fans can deny all they want, but the Carling Cup isn't a major trophy, Dalglish has led a disappointing season topped off with awful investments in Downing, Henderson and Carroll. Suarez's racism row seems to have left him scarred, the Uruguayan may have scored against Aston Villa; but he hasn't look as convincing as expected (even his dives aren't convincing the officials anymore!)

As for my predictions, this week was budget week! At a total value of £26.3 and 4.2 points per player, lets take a look. Hoolahan was convincing Norwich, picking up the assist. A good and timely call. Bardsley against Spurs, not many would have thought he would earn the clean sheet, but he managed a top draw performance to bag the 3 point bonus. Excellent call. Liverpool's performance can be blamed on a certain Kop legend. Dalglish cannot seem to get his transfers correct, and neither can he get his lineup correct! With too much spent on Andy Carroll, Dalglish looks like he's forcing Andy Carroll into the starting 11! Bellamy earned 1 point, but surely he would have done better if he had started instead of the donkey (Andy Carroll).

Whelan had a good performance, picking up 2 bonus points; unfortunately his performance wasn't fruitful in terms of goals or assists. Lastly, Joe Allen, not the best of days. Allen who performed much better at the start of the season seems to have disappeared into the abyss that is Swansea's passing game.

Gameweek 29 Overview

The gameweek kicked off awfully for my predictions, Martin Jol's poor tactical decisions saw Fulham slump to one of their worst home performances this entire season. Riise clearly didn't rise to the occasion. As my statistics predicted, United trashed Wolves, yet Rooney was out of luck, bagging a single assist. Don't lose faith though, Rooney will bounce back when it matters the most. A solid Blackburn performance saw Gamst Pedersen lead his team to a 2-0 victory against Sunderland. 8 points for Blackburn's crown jewel, a good pick, and timely for a player who has not been meeting our expectations for this season. As for Ramsey, Arsenal played out a boring match. Enough said. 1-0, a typical Arsenal performace in the absence of RVP's clinical touch. West Brom will count themselves disappointed with their performace at the DW Stadium. A match they should've won. Morrison will be clearly disappointed, as will Shane Long, who is likely to drop back to the subs bench as Odemwingie returns.

As for next week a few people to watch out for would be Rooney, who'll be eager to show the United fans exactly why Valencia and Hernandez aren't anything as special as himself. As for the Fulham troops, it's going to be another rainy day even if Murphy and Duff start. Keep your eyes out for a Gerrard hattrick. It's obvious, Liverpool will be pathetic against Wigan, but Gerrard is likely to carry the burden of 10 other players on his shoulders...again.

As for Sunderland, we welcome back Sessegnon, which means we welcome back a Sunderland side than can perform well. Don't forget about Manchester City though, they're hungry for points, and with United winning 5-0, they're hungry for goals as well. Consider Dzeko (if he starts), Nasri, Silva and Johnson. Leave Aguero out, he's nowhere near value for money - having Aguero on your team is the sign that you're pathetic at Fantasy Premier League. It's basic knowledge, common sense, you were born with it...hopefully.

Gameweek 28 Overview

What wouldve been a good week for my top 5 predictions kinda got stuffed by Norwich's little slip up agaisnt Wigan. With both Pilkington and Holt failing to shine, my points per player fell to a mere 5.4 from a good 8.7 for my other three predictions. Rooney put in an excellent shift against WBA, netting him a pretty solid 2 goals. Enrique meanwhile managed to get the predicted clean sheet, although to be honest, I was hoping for a few more points from the match against Sunderland. My most random pick of the week was one whom i was sure would get more than the usual 2 or 3 points, Ryo Miyaichi, and he did not disappoint, getting in an assist as well as a 1 point bouns for a decent total of 6 for a player most fantasy managers would not have even considered. 

My other picks were a bit up-down this week, with 3 players doing well and the other three doing next to nothing. With Pogrebnyak, he, like Dempsey before him, seems to reflect Fulham's form, amazing at home and absolute rubbish anywhere else. In case any genius out there failed to get the hint, GET THEM FOR NEXT WEEK. As such, it is hardly surprising that he only got 2 points this week. Jarvis on the other hand was just a case of what couldve been. With the number of chances he had or those he created, he couldve got a good 30 points, leaving me quite gutted with the measly 2 that he did get. As for Song, i was just hoping he'd continue his recent run of assists, but no such luck there. 

Now onto my others who actually did decently this week. Van Persie is hardly surprising given his form at the moment. If anything, I am slightly disappointed that  he only came away with the one goal, although the 3 point bonus was something I was never going to complain about. De Gea on the other hand, has not been as convincing as I thought he would be, but finally seems to be fulfilling his potential with a haul of 7 points this week. The player I was most pleased with this week, other than Rooney of course, was Suarez. Despite not scoring, he put in a tremendous shift against Everton and managed to bag himself 2 assists and a pretty sweet 2 point bonus for his troubles for a solid 12 point haul. With a nice run of fixtures coming up and the return to form of Stevie G, expect that partnership to turn up a decent points return.

Gameweek 27 Overview

An unfortunate week for my predictions, with my top 5 earning a measly 4.2 points each. Of my top 5 players, the only one to perform was Dempsey. It's no surprise he put on a great performance, as he always seems to do that at home against the weaker sides. For those of you who didn't have him on your team or didn't even consider buying him, it's about time you quit Fantasy Premier League.

As for my others picks, most of them shined. Shotton, owned by less than 2% of managers bagged in 8 points after yet another solid display. Pogrebnyak needs no introduction, since he joined Fulham he's made Zamora look like a complete idiot. Rooney's goal bagged him 8 points, a fair return, although you'd want more from a player that expensive. As for Morrison, Crouch, Agbonlahor and Graham, poor performances have seen me lose faith in them. 

The thing about Crouch, he'll get loads of points in one game, but will get you 2 points for the next 5 matches. If you can predict when he'll strike next, you're in luck. Morrison put in a good performance against the BPL's biggest underachievers, Chelsea. Unfortunately they don't give points for being better than a group of 11 wankers clad in blue. Unfortunately, it's time to bid farewell to Graham. He will score another 3 or so goals by the end of the season; but we want much more than that load of crap. As for Agbonlahor, I think a summer move to Sunderland (a summer move to Martin O'Neil) would make him the star he used to be (the star Martin O'Neil made him be). In other words, don't ever invest in Agbonlahor, unless you're me, I have a gift you see. Keep an eye on him.
