HAPPY GAPHRODITE WEEK!!!
Day 1 - Stars/Space <3
For gaphrodite week 💗
Thank you everyone who participated in Gaphrodite week whether you were out here making art or fic, and even if you were just out here appreciateing or lurking thru the tag! I didn't think there would be people other than my friends actually so keen on participating and it made my week!!
Such is the freelance life, i got swamped with work all of the sudden but I managed to at least get some very rough things done for the Valentine's Day, First Kiss, and Mythology prompts! Hopefully I can come back to these later but if not, oh well! I'll be making Gaphrodite content regardless 🥰💖💖
Gaphrodite Week day twooooooo, ignoring the prompts because I do what I WANT.
Aphrodite, please remember mortals need to breathe.
A while back, @dadrielle and I briefly spitballed about the concept of a modern competing romance novelists Gaphrodite AU. This isn’t exactly finished/polished/”good”, but I wanted to post for Gaphrodite Week: Mistaken Identity day anyway.
Here’s the only background you need: Competing romance novelists, but they’ve never met in person. Gabrielle’s gone to an Aphrodite - Dite for short - book signing to fight with her.
---
“Hi,” Gabrielle said, with every intention of continuing with what the actual fuck, you stole the premise for my next book, what do you have to say for yourself, hashtag rivals forever and yours truly, etc.
Her mind blanked, however, when Dite looked up and her face was transformed by a brilliant smile. “Hey!” she said in return - a little too overenthusiastically, if anyone was asking Gabrielle. “Wait… have I seen you around before? You look so familiar! Do you come to these things a lot?”
Gabrielle was agog. Did she - did she truly not know who Gabrielle was? She’d come here for a confrontation, and she intended to have one!
“Oh, you’ve seen me around,” she replied with as much insinuation as she could fit into her voice.
But Dite didn’t seem to notice. She dropped her pen and leaned back and simply said, “I knew it. I knew it. Oh wait, don’t tell me your name,” she said with exaggerated concentration, scrunching up her face and pressing her hand over her eyes. “It’ll come to me.”
Was she for real? Gabrielle stared at the production. Behind her the line was shifting impatiently. Those who had recognized her were starting to have the audacity to titter. Gabrielle’s cheeks and ears burned red with embarrassment and humiliation. “Look,” she said, fully intending on just getting this over with, “we both know you know who I am.”
“I know!” Dite wailed. Gabrielle’s eyebrows rose in disbelief. The muttering and laughter behind her was getting more noticeable. “That’s why this is, like, so embarrassing!”
“That’s why this is embarrassing?” Gabrielle muttered.
“Well, yeah! I usually make a habit of remembering the names of beautiful women,” was Dite’s what-absolutely-should-have-been-predictable reply, complete with a wink that Gabrielle absolutely did not find charming. “Okay. How about in the meantime, I call you… sweetpea.”
“Sweetpea,” Gabrielle repeated flatly.
But Dite didn’t seem to pick up on this either, instead blithely making a gimme gesture with her hands. “So where’s your book, sweetpea?” she asked.
“I don’t have one. I - “
“Well, that’s not a problem - just don’t tell anyone,” Dite said as she lowered her voice and rummaged around underneath the table by feel until she produced a copy of her book. “I get in trouble for doing this too much.”
“Oh, I really don’t need - “ Gabrielle began. She was keenly aware of the reasons not to go around handing out copies of your book to people who had no intention of paying for it, especially in a public place it would surely be seen and that intel passed around to others who might try to take advantage of that precedent. Gabrielle hated her, of course, but not that much.
“Don’t even worry about it,” Dite said, pen already at the ready. “Just keep it between us? Our little secret?” Gabrielle resented being brought into the intimacy of secret keeping with this whirlwind of a woman - she had come here for a reason! - but as she opened her mouth to protest again and maybe even un-derail this conversation while she was at it, Dite said, “So, what should the inscription be?”
Against her will, but very unable to help herself, Gabrielle snorted and said, “This is a lot of effort to get my name.”
Dite honest to goodness beamed. “You’re right!” she said. “Hmmm. Okay, then, no peeking.”
Theatrically, she shielded her inscription with one hand as she wrote it with the other; adorably, a hint of her tongue stuck out of the corner of her lips. Gabrielle tried not to stare at it even as she tried to rev herself up once again to cast her allegations of premise theft, but Dite seemed so sincere, if over the top, and the silence was too fraught with it. If not now, when? Gabrielle asked herself, and she knew she was right, she knew it, but Dite was already finished, closing the front cover and presenting it to Gabrielle with a smile that was no less radiant, but somehow more self-satisfied.
Gabrielle’s suspicion rose thirty percent higher than it had been in a heartbeat.
“See you around, sweetpea!” Dite told her and blew her a kiss. “Don’t be a stranger, okay?”
Not knowing what to think, Gabrielle allowed herself to be shuffled out of place by the couple behind her as they took their own turn at the table. Unable to help herself, she opened the book before she’d gotten back to her own table and scowled immediately upon seeing the inscription, followed by a phone number and a little doodle of a cluster of hearts:
To Sweetpea, xoxo
See you around… maybe sooner than I think?
Serious worship
A Xena/Gabrielle/Aphrodite fic with a slight focus on Gaphrodite. Explicit. 5,901 words.
Ha! I can’t help myself. It’s way too easy to rile you up. Just a quick question, though. Have you ever sealed the deal with the warrior babe?
Well, don’t you want to know what it’s like? I’m in the mood to share today. And so was Gabrielle.
I'm not sure I'm going to be done writing in time to have the sequel to this ready before the end of Gaphrodite Week, but a G/Aph follow-up will be out soon!
Gaphrodite Week Day 4 - Confessions
I think she maybe whispered it a hundred times during this scene :'O
Gaphrodite Week Day 2 - Mermaids
This one has hints of Xena/Gabrielle. I simply cannot help myself.
