Steal seeds from chains (like Wlmrt)
I don’t know how privy people are to land management and agricultural information. But if you know a thing or two about farming you’d know a thing or two about the terrible price of seeds
For a bit of background many fruits accessible in grocery stores are bread to be near seedless. In fact it gets to a point that it cannot reproduce fruits. This is purely because people don’t like the taste of seeds. I don’t know how many of you know what a banana looks like in the wild but here it is.
See how the seeds are noticeable? That’s how a lot of fruits are supposed to be. (In the wild vs how we grow them)
Now this isn’t entirely problematic but it does mean we have to bioengineer seeds in order for farmers to get the product people actually like/want. And the companies that make the seeds? They milk every penny they can.
If you’ve looked at a packet in the grocery store and found that it was above 3$? That’s complete bullshit. It should not cost you much to grow your own foods. You shouldn’t have to pay to willingly do the labor yourself.
And by the way? If the plant is native there’s nothing stopping you from growing it in areas that are abandoned. (This is for people that want gardens they don’t necessarily have access to) You shouldn’t need permission to use the land if nobody is using it. Some plants may need extra care which provides risks but crops like corn? You can just chuck that over a fence and watch it grow. Or you could feed it to some birds or squirls and watch it spread. I myself have ‘fed the birds’ near properties nobody was using more than couple of times. Nobody bats an eye.
