I joined tumblr a little while back because I wanted to start a blog on how to be environmentally conscious.
I know logically the state of the world isn’t the consumer’s fault.
I do however think people should be a little more adventurous and spirited with their choices.
Like I could go on and on about how angry fast fashion and chat gpt make me.
But I don’t think it would help.
The problem is people want convenience but don’t care about the amount of work it takes to make it convent.
They don’t see the beauty in patience.
Not only that- but the upper middle class is too comfortable to really do anything.
They think if it’s not convenient, then it can wait till later, for scientists and businessmen to bring out a safer technology for the populis
But that’s the thing, scientists HAVE made solutions but the action to achieve them costs too much money for the billionaire’s liking.
Let me repeat that. We actually DO have serval solutions to keep the environment healthy, and more importantly protecting the people who will ultimately suffer the most from a hotter climate.
Not every one can afford a home to take shelter In, and not everybody has the ability to leave their current homes, even if it’s drowning underwater or destroyed by some other natural disaster.
For example, People knew Hawaii would be flooded and cause several refugees to part with their home.
But again, if you’re not a billionaire who’s directly causing the issue, (because you refuse to choose the more expensive option that will garentee consumer’s safety)-then you’re basically a scream in the void.
The ONLY way to over power the sheer amount of resources these people have- is to stop buying and working for them.
But to some extent we can’t even do that
Because there are billionaires investing in green feild development. If you don’t know what that means, it’s when companies choose low income areas (usually in the Midwest/east) to profit off of. They exploit people who essentially have no other resources and restate themselves as quiet monopolies. Ever wonder why you can find McDonald’s and Walmart basically everywhere you go no matter how desolate? It’s because billionaires make deliberate choices that cause their consumers to be dependent on them.
The one percent functions because we work for them, get little in return, and re-establish the status quo by buying the things we need to live.
If you’re in a position where you can find community that values the people more than it values their own resources. You absolutely should be an active member.
Can’t find one? Start one yourself.
get in contact with the scientists who are monitoring the climate and its changes.
The military has been preparing for the disaster climate change causes since its discovery. Even if trump doesnt believe In it- he’s still putting in every penny into an institution that is preparing for natural disasters.
Don’t wait for them to show up- we’ve seen how ice agents and cops behave. These military people ARE NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST reliable. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
