The Junkie and the Ranger

Part 1
Amelia’s POV
Walking through the hallways during lunch was always my favourite time to be by myself, I never belonged to a friendship clique. Unless being a loner counts as a clique.
Walking in the geography classroom to pick up a book I forgot about the last lesson I see Kurtz and his crew of Gargoyles. They have been here for a few weeks causing trouble all across the school but for some reason, Kurtz and his crew have not said or done a bad thing to me, on the contrary, they have been nothing but nice to me.
Kurtz was laying on the teacher’s desk with one leg bent while the other is hanging off the end and as I came in he started to turn around and look straight at me.
“Little Miss Snow, what a wonderful surprise, want to join our quest?” He asked.
“No, no it's okay, I've never played and don't even know what to do” I rushed out.
“I can teach you, sit” He spoke. He then sat up straight and patted the space next to him.
“Fine, what are the rules?” I asked as I took a seat next to Kurtz.“Hush now Snow, we play by a different set of rules here, you my dear will play as Ranger, she is a hunter and guide, she likes to be alone much like you do and works best that way”
The card was passed to me and the character looked very cool, she has her hair in a high ponytail and a bow and arrow with her, her clothing was very cool as well it looked like she just came out of the forests.
“Which character are you Kurtz?” I ask feebly.
“I, little Ranger am the Game Master, I tell you what quests you go on and you do what I say, Understand little snow?” He says demanding
“Yes Game Master”
“Good girl, let's continue, you all have your quests so Ranger it's your turn. I want you to take this stone and replace it from something in the Red Paladins bag, think you can do that for me?”
“I thought we were playing a board game? I heard people say the Red Paladin is Archie”
“This is not just a game Little Snow and we call him the red paladin here, are you going to reject this quest, it will upset the King”
“I’ll do it, give me the stone” I said confidently.
“Here you go, you have 24 hours to complete this quest, and your time starts now Ranger, good luck and let the King give you strength”
As he passed me the stone his hand lingered a bit longer than what he truly should have done while he looked me in the eye. I can do this. It won’t be too hard just get Archie’s bag put the stone in a maybe steal a pen or something, I don’t have to steal something big like his phone, just something to replace the stone.
I moved my hand away quickly and put the stone in my pocket, seems like I’ll have to get out of my comfort zone and make some friends after all, only got a 24-hour deadline.
“Game for today is over, go and complete your quests, we will come together in the land of the King”
As the gargoyles left the room and I tried to Kurtz grabbed my arm and spun me around
“Little Miss Snow give me your phone” he spoke.
I unlocked my phone and gave it to him, he went to the contacts and put his number inside my phone.
“Once you finish your quest you text me and prove to me you have completed it; only then will I tell you the location of the Kingdom of the gargoyle king”
“I understand Kurtz, Ill message you soon”
“Good Girl”
