Fleet Foxes: A "Better Late Then Never" Album Review
It’s taken me 4 long years to get a copy of Fleet Foxes debut album. Now that I finally did, I feel like the only right thing to do would be to review it. So, without further adieu, Here is my review of Fleet Foxes, the 2008 classic.
The album opens with Sun it Rises, a simple little diddy that seems to infect my very being. This trend continuous with the short, but satisfying (that’s what she said) White Winter Hymnal. The third track, Ragged Wood, seems to just go on forever. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good song, but I think it was WAY longer then it needed to be. There were points around the 4 minute mark were I almost skipped the song. At this point, I thought the album was heading south fast. But then Tiger Mountain Peasant Song played. Right then, my approval in the album jumped WAY up. The Next song to catch my attention was only 2 songs later. It was titled He Doesn’t Know Why, and it was everything you want in a song. Catchy, memorable, and original. It then kept my attention all the way through the end of the album, with Oliver James being an extremely good way to cap off this albums excellence. Overall, this album deserves any folk-lovers attention. Hey, It got mine, and I’m really glad it did. I give it 7.4 out of 10 possible points
