Kurtz created the designs, gags, and storyboards. A regular collaborator of his, Gary Mooney, handled the animation. Mooney (1930-2008) was an animation great, having worked for everybody from Walt Disney to John Hubley and Jay Ward (where Kurtz also animated). Kurtz remembered Mooney as,"the best draftsman I ever worked with."

Unusual for most of his jobs, Bob Kurtz also created the sound design for the animation, including voicing the mouse's various grunts and other exclamations.
