A young man pushed his girl friend into death over a rocky slope of 30 meters on the island of Folegandros and ran away. He was arrested a day later. He confessed claiming that “the phase was foiled, it was the bad time.” The homicide, in fact another femicide in a long series of murders against women in the country, outrages the society.
The couple from two villages in Corinth were together for six months and on short vacation on the Cyclades island.

A brutal murder of a 26-year old woman took place on the peaceful Cycladic island of Folegandros in Greece on Friday.
The murder presents a shocking resemblance to the Caroline Crouch femicide of the Athenian suburb of Glyka Nera in May. On Sunday, her boyfriend confessed he killed her and disposed the body into the sea.
The 26-year old woman, whose first name was Garyfallia but her surname remains unknown, was found dead by local fishermen near the beach of Lygaria on Friday. Her corpse was seen floating on the surface of the sea.
Since then and for approximately 24 hours, her partner had gone missing, with everyone in the local community wondering what had really happened, as the couple had already been seen on the island camping on various beaches for days.
The forensic report of latest femicide victim Garyfallia Psarakou was concluded on Thursday and it is shocking. The 26-year-old was beaten, was dragged on the rocky surface of Folegandros and then was thrown off the cliff into the water, media report. the forensic findings refute the claims of the 30-year-old confessed murderer currently held at the police station of the island of Naxos.
According to information obtained by Mega TV, the medical examiner found out, among others, that the victim’s head injury were the result of a punch.
The marks from the rocks on the young woman’s back were made after the young man dragged her over them and then probably lifted her body and threw her into the sea.
Garyfallia was alive but unconscious when the man threw her into the sea, as a result of which she drowned helplessly.
The forensic report will be reportedly submitted to the prosecutor once the result to toxicological examination are out.
Arrested by police on Saturday, the young man confessed to the murder, however, he claimed that he had just pushed her off the cliff following an argument and that he jumped into the water to rescue her. When he saw she was unconscious he just left.
He attributed the murder to a “bad moment.”
Meanwhile on Naxos, the arrested was briefly hospitalized and returned to police station on Thursday morning, short before appearing to testify. Some media reported that he attempted suicide with the bed sheet, other that he suffered an epileptic crisis.
He was found laying on the cell floor on Wednesday night and taken to Health Center. He was examined, received some medication and returned to the cell.
