What are some of your headcanons for Sreng and Morfis since the game refuses to give any lore about them

the game gives us way too little information so here‘s what I get from Sreng and Morfis;

Sreng

a land chaotically held together by clans and bandits, with hot climate and rocky desert

sreng people‘s passion: fighting for territory within. they constantly battle for territory and supremacy (or for battle’s sake)

most of the best weaponsmithing in the world can be found in Sreng. Obviously Zoltan, the legendary weaponsmith comes from Sreng

the people of Sreng either are extremely tough and fearless warriors living by a strict code within the clans or they‘re some of the most devious bastard snakes you can meet. anyhow lots of killing over here

Sreng harbors the highest population of beasts and monsters in the world. in some parts of Sreng beasts and monsters are worshipped as holy creatures. Some very few courageous ones are even able to ride those monsters and in some clans this is also a qualification test to select their clan leader

the men of Sreng may be strong and scary as hell, but the women of Sreng could just as well serve as leaders. Those women are metal af and can easily take on most of the male’s work as well. women are definitely on a par with men

there‘s many mineral ressources in Sreng. also a big reason why the clans always fight for territory. they‘re especially rich in iron, copper, fossil umbral steel, salt around the borders and rare local gemstones

Morfis

a city-state/metropolis known as the ‚city of illusion‘ surrounded by a vast sand desert

you‘ll have a hard time traveling there unprepared, because you‘d lose yourself in the desert and wander around forever without getting to the city. It‘s hidden behind an ‚illusion‘ of desert, and without proper guidance you would hardly find the entrance. think Fata Morgana but reversed if that even makes sense

it doesn’t show much of itself to the rest of the world, but that metropolis is actually wealthy as hell. very far developed and full of magic, and canonically has a great economy due to its trading routes if I‘m correct. and some of the most beautiful and mystical women inhabit that land. I like to compare those to the stereotypical ‚Circassian beauties‘ of our world

most of the gold that exists in the world originates from Morfis

below all the brilliance there‘s also a shady side to it. They have a slavery culture and some powerful people undertake human trafficking (which btw Carina‘s mother fell victim to and is how she came to Fodlan. she was meant to be sold to a group of people I can’t name yet and somehow got away but pshhhtt)

Morfis Map Headcanon

Morfis is broken into three main regions, divided by the rivers.

Easir Region: Named after the two rivers that surround it (the Major Easir River and the Minor Easir River, both of which were named after a famous traveler in Morfis history whose family is still famous to this day). This is the most fertile region in all of Morfis. However, it is also the most prone to flooding. Every region has a governing family that reports back to the king and queen and the leader of this region is the Easir family.

Eastern Desert: This region is mostly a rocky desert, with extreme temperatures and limited agriculture. However, what this region lacks in agriculture, it makes up for in mining as this area contains many unique gemstones. This region is also where many of the most skilled magicians hail from. This region is ruled over by the Salah family.

Ahlka Region: This region is known for its beautiful scenery and includes the two small islands of Morfis. A century ago, this region had been a wasteland, destroyed during the Maja Civil War, when the old ruling family, the Majas, forced civilians to rise up against the ruling family by withholding food from those who refused. The Maja family was defeated and a few disgraced descendants still roam the area now ruled by the Gamal family, who were able to turn around the region’s luck through policies that focused on restoring the region’s nature. Or at least, that’s how the story goes…

Places:

Qarhu: The capital city where the ruling family, the Atefs, live. The most populated area in Morfis, known for the magnificent shows put on by magicians showing off their magical prowess. This city also contains many ports where robust trading occurs. The Committee of Academic Honesty meets here, where they annually review historical texts to ensure that what is being taught to students is an ‘accurate depiction of the past.’

Mara: The second largest city in Marfos where the Easir family resides. This city is known for its great schools and many students wishing the study the magic arts come here.

Almur: A small fishing village known for a great flood that decimated the town in 1160. The whole town was rebuilt on stilts to try and prevent similar events from occurring. The unique building style of this town makes it a tourist hot spot, much to the chagrin of the town’s local population.

Alzi Ra: The largest farming town in all of Morfis.

Rame and Jatun: Both are large national parks with many unique flora and fauna. Rame is known for its amazing sea life and many people visit there to go diving.

Wayan: A coastal city where the Gamal family lives. This city is considered the art capital of Morfis.

Soyana: Once a large bustling city, Soyana was destroyed during the Maja Civil War. While efforts to rebuild the city have taken place it still has not been able to regain its former glory. Rumor has it that some descendants of the Maja family still live here, although they go by a different name now.

Eazl: An extremely small town, only the most talented magicians come here to see if they can use their magic to sustain themselves with no food or water for a month. Many magicians that travel out here never return.

Asan: A city known for it’s bustling market. This is where the Salah family lives.

Mountains of Extinction: An area surrounded by volcanoes so hot all living things quickly die upon entering. Only the most skilled magicians are able to traverse the area, using magic to protect themselves from the extreme temperature. This is the only area where the Volcanic Crystal can be found, a rainbow gemstone that seems to change color depending on the lighting which is worn by the royal family as a status symbol.

Darah Island: This island was once its own country until it was conquered by Morfis nearly 50 years ago. The population of this island still mainly consists of the native Nua people, although they are not given the right to govern themselves and their unique form of magic is viewed as unrefined. The Bread Crisis of 1176, when shortages of flour and sugar led to a dramatic spike in bread prices on the island, has caused many Nua to join together to form an independence movement and try and break free from Morfis.

A young woman, Γαρυφαλλια, was murdered in Greece by her boyfriend while vacationing in Folegandros, and her funeral in her hometown turned into a silent protest against patriarchy.

friend i have loved all the nabatean byleth hcs you've shared so i'd LOVE to see some of the ones you haven't shared yet!!! :D (only if you want of course!)

Gladly! So language nerd me has a whole thing where Byleth is actually taught the Nabatean language by Seteth and Rhea because he only has fragments from Sothis. Seteth has experience teaching Flayn how to write it (not speak it since Nabatean was her first language most likely) and teach about the culture so this is only slightly new, but Rhea does not (unless she taught Sitri but I'm still on the fence on that one) and she's downright giddy at the idea of teaching Byleth all about Nabatea. He's a pretty fast learner on account of Sothis luckily so it's almost like a refresher course on things he just forgot. Rhea does something she hasn't done in a very long time and takes Byleth to Zanado to explain what the city was like on her own terms in ways that she only can in Nabatean. The trip does help them both through putting Byleth's mind and memories at ease, and letting Rhea have just a bit of closure through just being able to talk about it to, essentially, a lost family member. He also has a much easier time talking to Indech and Macuil since both of them express themselves best in their native language.

Byleth also connects a lot with those two through them helping him with the dragon stuff. Just flying across the desert with Macuil and swimming in the lake with Indech does wonders of getting them to open up . They, along with Rhea too, help him control his transformation along with just his mobility in dragon form. Indech and Byleth particularly get along cause both of them don't speak much so they can just sit together next to the lake in utter silence just enjoy each other's company and they like that.

Bonus for Nabatean Morfis idea, post-Azure Moon. When word reached Morfis about everything that happened in Fódlan during the war to say they were shook would be an understatement. They have only just started opening up so they didn't actually know about Seiros and everything, but the description of the "avatar of the Goddess"/new archbishop being suspiciously similar to a Nabatean in appearance catches their attention. Morfis decides to take a leap of faith and send a delegation to King Dimitri and the Church.

Lo and behold when they get to Fhirdiad and see the Archbishop and holy mother that's Cichol jaws are collectively dropped. Needless to say, Byleth and the rest of the Nabateans quickly make a trip to Morfis to see what's going on. All of them are so relieved to see that even small portion of the Nabateans managed to survive, and the sheer joy that comes from seeing the civilization they've built in Morfis is indescribable. The older Morfisians are so happy to see friends they thought they lost centuries ago. Byleth also has a much easier time revealing the truth using documents from Morfis that corroborates the 'revelations' he's getting from Sothis, and forges a really close bond with the normally closed of City of Illusion.

The connection with Morfis allows for the Relics to be given proper burials too. Dimitri is able to commission traditional Nabatean weapons from Morfis that correspond to Crests a la Seiros' Sword, the Sword of Moralta, etc. Burying the Relics is just the right thing to do and having these new weapons allows them to permanently retire them without concern or fuss from the nobility or general public. This probably does come after a few years of rapport with Morfis and they are able to find blacksmiths willing to do the work if it means the Relics will never be used again.
