Spirit Work Basics : Energy Work and Discernment
So, you’re tired of searching for hours and hours only to find nothing, or what you THINK is nothing related to spirit work? Well look no further than here, which is the absolute base of anything conjuring-related. Energy work.
Energy is extremely important when you’re trying to call a spirit. You need to know how to wield it well, or else you’re not going to get off the ground. The very first step to conjuring, is being able to send a call out into the world for something specific. But how do you build that skill?
Through energy work! More particularly, you need to be able to identify energy signatures.
An energy signature is what makes a species, a subset, and an individual identifiable. There’s generally several layers of signatures, but the most important ones in order to safely conjure, are species, and individual.
You need these two so that you can reliably be able to tell whether something is telling the truth about what it is or not. It makes it so that you don’t think you’re talking to a lesser God, when it’s really only a trickster looking for some free food and housing. It also makes it so that if it’s not a well known species, you have something you can personally identify it with.
For individual signatures, it makes sure that some random spirit can’t just come along and replace your spirit friend of three months or three days. It also helps to easily banish something unwanted, if you know its exact signature.
Not only do you have to be able to do it, you need to be able to do it quickly. Not every spirit will stop and give you time to read it, before attacking you.
So with all that said and done, you need to start from the bottom in order to get the hang of energy work. I won’t cover the very basics, as information on that is readily available. I recommend psi balls, basic shields, and manipulation first, though. The basics I’m talking about is energy sensing.
Now, if you already know how to manipulate outside energy, you should already have a decent basis for this, and only need to hone it. However, if you can’t yet, then try it with something easy, something physical.
Take an object you have two or several of. Some may have a spirit attached to them however. But for now, we focus on the energy.
Take one and only one into a completely separate room, and focus on it. Learn its energy completely, just focus for as longs as you can without being uncomfortable. Try using all of your senses; sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste (carefully). But do them mentally, not physically. You’ll probably realize that one is a bit stronger than than others, most people have that. If you want to, you can concentrate specifically on that astral sense. While you’re doing this, focus on the object. On this one, personal object, the only one in the room. Whatever smells, feelings, sensations, emotions, etc you get, remember them. Preferably, write them down, and then put it out of sight so you aren’t biased.
Now, take that object out of the room, and get one of the duplicate ones, and go through the same process. Do any of the feelings or senses words line up? Congrats! That’s the energy of the type of object! The ones that are different are the object’s personal energy. It’s also important to do this with emotions, it makes it very easy to read whether a spirit is lying when you can.
Do this exercise again and again until you’re comfortable with your ability to do it quickly with objects you’ve never seen before. Then, if you plan on doing spirit work on the astral, do it on the astral. Spirit work can be done just fine on the physical, though.
There are plenty of different methods too, and you can mix and match what works for you. Especially when mental illnesses, general illnesses, and personal magic type come into play. But there’s genrally a type that will work for everyone, to begin with anywho. And as you grow you can change that type however you want! And that’s when it really gets fun, so just hang in there, newbies. It gets better, you’ll accomplish your goals. In the meantime, practice practice.
My next post will be about another basic ingredient in spirit work; Designing wards!
