PROOF OF CONCEPT: THE APPLEDORE WILDLIFE GATEWAY
What if arrival into Appledore became an experience in itself?
Not merely a road sign. Not merely public art.
But a monumental wildlife guardian arch — rooted in the indigenous creatures of the estuary, hedgerow and North Devon countryside.
Buzzard above. Badger at centre. Owl, hare, fox, otter, heron, stoats and hidden small mammals woven into the stone.
A gateway that tells visitors, before they even enter the village, that this is a place with story, ecology, heritage and identity.
The strongest destinations create memorable thresholds.
This would be one.
Early visual proof of concept. Lux Haven design studies.
