Since there’s still 41 days left ‘til the start of the 2019 Gator Baseball season, we have some time to look back at some of the #gatorgr8ts who have worn the #orangeandblue on the diamond. ~~~~| By The Numbers: Jonathan India Before #6 was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 5th round, he was putting up huge numbers in his junior season: Finished in the Top 10 nationally in walks (5th, 60), home runs (6th, 21), slugging percentage (7th, .717) and total bases (9th, 162). His 21 home runs ranked him fifth in UF history; slugging percentage of .717 was the fourth-best ever at UF and on-base percentage of .497 was the seventh best ever. Named a consensus First Team All-American as well as the SEC Player of the Year. Selected No. 5 overall in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Cincinnati Reds, he was the second-highest draft pick in school history behind Mike Zunino (drafted 3rd overall in 2012). India began his professional career with the Greeneville Reds of the Class A-Short Season Appalachian League, where he batted .261 with three home runs. He was moved to the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League on July 26 to get playing time at shortstop.[16] He hit .250 with two singles in three games for Billings. On July 30, India was promoted to Class A Midwest League Dayton Dragons[17] and ended the season there, batting .229 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 27 games.[18] His jersey number might’ve changed from #6 to #7 but he still has the same work ethic and determination. Lots to look forward to from #gatorgr8t Jonathan India next level up 🐊⚾️ . . . . @jonathan_india @gatorsbb @uf @scottstricklin @sully_7_gators @reds @mlb @ncaasports @sec @d1baseballbuzz @hittingpost #abca #womensnapsportstoo #cyndichamberssports #baseball #gatorbaseball #sportsphotographer #baseballphotographer #teamcanon #canon @womeninsportsphotography @womenphotograph @womensportsphotographers (at Alfred A.
