AROUND WE GO, GAVIN GOOF
Most people think of Gavin as the funny one. The one who trips over his own boots, laughs too loud, and carries snacks in his pockets “just in case.” They don’t see the way his eyes scan the edges of a room before he walks in, or how he always puts himself closest to the danger without anyone asking. They miss the way his jokes get softer when the room gets heavier, or how he always notices who’s sitting alone. They see the smile. They don’t see the weight...But Max does. Once upon a time, Gavin Goof was the backbone of a legendary trio. He wasn’t the strategist like Donald or the light-wielder like Mickey..but he was the shield. The steady hand. The heartbeat that kept them grounded. Gavin didn’t crave glory. He didn’t need a spotlight. He just wanted to keep the people he loved safe. And for a long time, that was enough. He had her. She was all soft smiles and sharp wit, a quiet kind of magic Gavin never fully understood but felt in his bones. She made the world make sense. She gave him Max. And when she got sick..truly sick..Gavin fought like hell. He scoured realms for answers. Talked to healers, mages, even those who walked too close to the dark. Nothing worked. Not even his strange resistance to magic, which once made him near-untouchable in battle. He would’ve traded it all if it meant saving her...But even shields crack. Even legends fail. She slipped away, and Gavin never quite forgave himself.. He raised Max alone, a man stitched together by routine and devotion. Every packed lunch, every bedtime story, every ridiculous dance in the kitchen..he did it all with the ghost of her smile tucked behind his ribs. He tried to keep things light for Max. Tried to keep the grief quiet. But children notice things, and Max always saw more than Gavin wanted to admit. So when Mickey came knocking, asking for help in building Elias..a sanctuary for light, for magic, for something better...Gavin said yes. Not because he wanted to. Because Max needed a world with less war and more wonder. A world where fathers didn’t bury the people they loved. He helped raise the barrier. Helped build Walt Academy. Helped hold the line again when monsters came for the city. And when Mickey stumbled, when Donald cracked under the pressure, Gavin stayed. Because someone always has to stay. These days, Gavin serves on Elias’s council. Not because he believes in bureaucracy, but because someone has to make sure the city stays safe. He still goes fishing at dawn..less for the catch, more for the quiet. He brings Max breakfast when he can. Checks on the triplets. Offers tea to council members who’ve forgotten how to breathe. He's not flashy. Not the strongest. But when the world begins to unravel, it’s Gavin people instinctively look toward. His magic defense still holds. Sorcery slips right past him. Dark curses bounce off like static. Some call it a gift from the Light. Gavin calls it what’s left of a blessing he couldn't use in time. He never remarried. Never really tried. He keeps her book on the mantle. Her scarf in the drawer. Her memory in everything. But he’s here. Still showing up. Still holding space. Still trying, even when it hurts. Because Max deserves better. Because the city still needs laughter that doesn’t ring hollow. And because somewhere inside him, Gavin Goof still believes..quietly, fiercely..that love is worth fighting for, even if the world has tried to prove otherwise. And maybe… just maybe… that’s what makes him a hero after all.
THE ROLE OF GAVIN IS PLOT MOVING.
