Daniel’s flight is delayed, but they make up most of the lost time in the air. That hasn’t stopped the businesswoman in the next row bitching about it every time a flight attendant walks past, but that’s what the noise cancelling on his Beats is for. He’s getting used to it, flying commercial instead of AirMax. Adjusting his timetable to the rest of the world, instead of the other way round. 

George isn’t used to it, if the single message that pops up on his WhatsApp chat is any indication.

Late.

He fidgets for the rest of the flight, leg bouncing. Resists the urge to check the race results. It’d finished while he was still in LAX, but he hasn’t looked once since Max secured his fourth and Greg, the nicest of the Red Bull admins, called him up for his cameo. No need to break the pattern now. 

With the travel time, he makes it to Abu Dhabi mid-morning, late enough to dodge the first exodus of paddock passholders eager to start their winter break. Keeps his head low through Departures. How’d he fucking explain it, showing up after the GP, just in time for testing? The last thing he wants is another round of rumours to endure. He’d rather tell the truth. Imagines smiling into a Sky Sports microphone: “Nah mate, not VCarb. I’m here to get on my knees and beg but, like, this time for dick.”

There’s a car waiting, under George’s name. Mr Russell’s Guest, the sign says. Like he’s a whore flown in for the occasion. It makes the base of his spine tingle. George is on Merc money – maybe he’d be okay with it, paying for Daniel’s flight. Making him earn it back. 

He keeps his knees together in the backseat, no spread. Nothing to glimpse in the rearview mirror for a man who hadn’t paid for it. 

He goes straight to the hotel without faffing. George answers his knock, takes his case like a gentleman as he ushers him in and props it just outside the closed door to what must be the spare bedroom. It can’t be the room the team booked for him; Mercedes don’t spring for suites when they’re out of contention for the titles. George must’ve paid specially. Like Daniel is-

George spreads his arms wide, lets Daniel come to him to hug and retreat. Two seconds. Daniel gives himself a pat on the back for it, being less clingy. George had mentioned it, idly, after Singapore – that he should let more people touch him. Daniel had flinched, but it’d been good advice in the end. It’s been grounding, letting the guys in LA pull him about, stick him in headlocks and hugs. Takes the edge off.

Not so much that he hasn’t taken a ten hour international flight because George told him to, stern-voiced, enough to make Daniel’s knees bend a full continent away. But, you know, a bit.  

George is crisp and clean, cologne on his neck, a faint heat coming off him that probably means he took a shower ten minutes ago but makes Daniel imagine him emerging from a trouser press like a cocoon. His shirt collar is buttoned and he’s wearing the black slacks Danny likes, the ones that make him think of Newman College. How the cheap plastic uniform trousers and lumpy blazers made him look like a kid next to teachers barely five years older, because they had the real thing, smart suits that seemed so grown up. 

Not his type, Daniel would’ve said about George a couple of years ago. Back when he’d thought someone needed thick thighs and broad shoulders to hold him down, make him take- anything. Everything.

Now he catches himself getting hard from a fucking Insta pic, George in starched collars and soft jumpers and giving the flat, uncompromising look that makes Daniel’s mouth water. He can jerk off to a stern four-minute voice note. 

“Good to see you,” George says. It sounds genuine, from him. 

“Been a while,” Daniel offers, a hint of apology in it, but George waves him off. He’s always good at that, drawing the line between this and that. Danny’s not in trouble yet. 

“Last few weeks have felt like months. Did you hear about the ‘feud’?” George makes quote marks with his fingers, but he also sounds genuinely irritated, not the fun kind. Daniel chuckles. He doesn’t check race results; he’s not dead. And Max still has his number. 

“A couple of things, yeah. All straightened out yet?”

“Mm. Getting there.” George hums to himself as he checks his phone, taps twice, and slides it back into his pocket. “It takes a while to get through to Max.”

Daniel can’t relate. Skill issue, he almost says. It’s never been tricky to get Max to see things his way; it’s the opposite that’s hard. Working out what Max’s weird little brain is doing, running laps ahead of Daniel’s into crashes and championships he can’t even see. 

He needs to stop thinking in racing metaphors. It’s not helping.

“Water?” George asks, the perfect distraction. His eyebrow arches. He’s seen Daniel full and whining, pressed his fingers to the bulge in his belly and told him ‘no.’ But Daniel doesn’t want that today. He’s already fucked up enough, being late. He can’t have George push him over. He wants to be good. 

He shakes his head, and George nods, easy about it. Daniel likes that; that he can’t really disappoint. 

“Ready?”

“Yeah.”

George straightens. It’s just half an inch difference as the stoop falls out of his shoulders, but Daniel’s hindbrain flares. He’s on his knees before George even asks.

“Excellent initiative, Ricciardo.” George runs a proprietary hand through his curls, tugs until Daniel whines. “Today’s lesson is on punctuality.”

“Yes sir.”

“When were you supposed to get here, hm?”

“An hour ago, sir.” The pull on his hair is hard and sharp; it unblocks a liquid sensation at the base of his spine. He sags between his own knees, arse grazing the floor.

“Try again. When were you supposed to get here? Not this hotel. Here, on your knees, for me?”

Daniel blinks. His head’s already fuzzing with it, distractions stripped away, just George’s hand in his hair and the suggestion of a bulge under black cotton. 

A pull again, not quite as painful. For focus. “Ricciardo.”

“After Vegas, sir.” He swallows. “In Qatar.”

“Two weeks late, I make that. 14 days. Fourteen’s a good number.”

“Yes sir.”

“How do you want them? Twelve and two?”

He hesitates. George doesn’t usually give him choices, just orders. He’s frowning trying to work out the trick of it, the mistake he’ll make, when George’s palm settles over his eyes. “Relax, Daniel. No wrong answer. What do you want?”

“Ten and four,” he answers, voice already rough. “Please. Sir.”

“Good lad.” A tap on his shoulder, barely enough to even call it a shove, and he gets on all fours. George strides over to the suite’s small sofa ahead of him, settles in. Daniel crawls a step behind him, close enough to lick the soles of George’s shoe if he asked. He doesn’t. Daniel’s not playing a dog today; doesn’t want scolding. 

Instead he heaves himself up into George’s lap with enough discipline to keep his hips lifted and away from the hot press of George’s thighs. His knees tuck in against George’s leg on the sofa seat, but he bends down to the floor on the other side, fingertips outstretched. He can hang his head this way, nose next to George’s bare ankle.  His arms still take the strain easily. 

George runs an appreciative palm down from his shoulder to his elbow, squeezes slightly. “Fit, aren’t you?” he croons. There’s bits of regular George that still sneak out when he’s like this; the way the praise he lavishes is so clearly what he wants to hear about himself. Daniel would rag on him, if it didn’t make him shake and cum so hard his balls are wrung dry. “Can you keep the pose comfortably?”

“Yeah,” he lies. Failure’s not an option, but pain – lactic acid lancing up his arms, gathering in the swell of his muscles – pain is absolutely on the table. 

As George well knows, because after that he stops asking questions, and starts spanking.

Twelve is a backhand, sending his neck back the other way; George nearly clips his knuckles on Danny’s open grin, and he gets a warning finger in his face to remind him to shut his mouth. Thirteen is the hardest; his cheek and dick throb as George huffs out a breath afterwards, like he just hit a particularly good return in padel. 

But fourteen is the master stroke, the reason Daniel will fly halfway round the world for a guy who only does this part-time, amateur-style: fourteen is softer, but exactly on the same spot as thirteen, bruise-on-bruise. It won’t actually colour, he knows. George is careful about those things, has to be. But he’ll have a handprint for a little while. When George picks up his phone, he tries to spot himself in the dark mirror of the screen, but George tilts it away from him, taps once, and puts it away.
