My brother works at a zoo and sometimes I get stressed out when he talks about animals being moved to different locations for genes and breeding. Like I am so scared about what if the rhino is gay? What if the animals don’t want to breed or be bred. Like what if one animal is in clear distress, will they try to stop it or just let the other one bred them? Can zookeepers see/learn that one animal is gay then do some sort of science fertility thing to still collect and move the sperm. I don’t know I just hate to think about animals being forced to be pregnant and give birth.

I’m sure my worries is more just my personal discomfort with pregnancy and lack of understanding about the whole, animal brains/thought processes when it comes to repopulating.

We are all Jonathan the blind, gay, sex-crazed tortoise.⁠ ⁠ The world-famous 190-year-old 🐢 in St Helena has officially become the oldest tortoise to have ever lived.⁠ ⁠ According to Jonathan’s vet, despite his old age and the fact that he is both blind and without a sense of smell, Jonathan still enjoys his three favourite activities: eating, sleeping and sex. Same, Jonathan, same.⁠ ⁠ Jonathan and 31-year-old tortoise Frederik, have been together for three decades, and vets say Jonathan’s libido shows no signs of slowing down. Good for him.⁠
