With the new Avatar series being post apocalyptic, I had to draw this up:
I'm not the most hyped about the new premise either, but I'm going to wait until we get actual footage to form my opinions!

what do you think a Ghazan/Ming Hua gem fusion would be like?
dang
I would like to thank Bryke from the bottom of my heart for this season of Korra. The depiction of how "antagonists" don't have to necessarily be cookie-cutter evil really allowed us to connect to both sides of the conflict. Ming Hua showed us that having a disability doesn't mean you can't fight for yourself, while also showing that just because someone has a disability doesn't mean that they are to be pitied. Zaheer and P'li demonstrated how any being is capable of love, no matter what the circumstances. It is also our connections to others that allow us to remain grounded to this earth (literally and figuratively). Above all else, Legend of Korra proves that good intentions do not necessarily justify actions, and that there is a sense of moral ambiguity in the approaches we take to situations. Book 3 was truly a wonder to behold, and I can't wait to see what Bryke has in store for Korra and the Krew next!
How does gazhan’s bending even work??? We've never seen another bender do what he does. He can’t simply be a firebender because firebenders can’t produce enough heat to melt rock, and he can’t simply be an earthbender because earthbenders cannot produce the heat element to create lava out of the rocks they bend. Yet we’ve seen him clearly bend both rocks and fire independently. He bent rock while fighting kya and bumi, once while he was trying to get bumi off of him, and once while he was pushing the off the ledge, and he bent fire in his prison cell, starting with a whorl of flame, and it became lava when zaheer threw him rocks.
p’li has another unusual power, her father’s powers, fire mixed with a concussive psi type force to create explosions. They kept her in ice so that she couldn’t use her power, but we’ve seen firebenders bend in arctic conditions, so it logically follows that she cannot separate her powers, or that they only work when combined. Clearly gazhan’s power must similarly somehow be a combination of both fire and earth, yet he has shown an ability to manipulate both elements independently.
this is honestly making me so curious how did he get his bending, where did it originate, does it come from a spirit world journey or something to that effect, etc etc. i dunno this is just really interesting to me.
She throws people into lava with one dispassionate swift move, she climbs crevasses with her water whips and a person twice her height on her shoulders, she sends her victims smashing into wooden doors and entraps them in a ball of water... She timidly shys away from looking at her partner in crime pouting like a middleschooler embarassed by the blatant showing of her crush on him. Awww!
