who: eve & elijah | @gcldensage
where: eve's house, july 21st
she has no idea what she's doing. it’s not clear what they are to one another anymore — they’re talking, eve takes that as a good point. the fact that he’s not ignoring her, that he wants anything to do with her feels like a step in the right direction. though, it’s left her confused… they’ve flirted, they matched on tinder, they cuddled in the on call room. the latter especially threw her for a loop — considering they haven’t spoken about it, and she can’t let herself acknowledge how at peace she’d felt that night. every time her mind wandered back to it, a guilt followed closely behind, reminding her that she doesn’t deserve that kind of tenderness from him. not anymore.
but he agreed to come over, which has led her to pacing around the kitchen like a mad woman. why did she offer to make food? why was she so nervous? this entire night has the makings of a date, even if neither will say so. eve doesn’t have that expectation — even though she can’t deny that she finds her gaze wandering to his arms when he’s changing in the locker room, or his lips when he’s reading off information about a patient from a chart. the idea of being alone with him for the evening (even though, technically speaking, her roommates were just hiding upstairs) had her stomach in knots. she’s following his pace, letting him set the tone — while she tries desperately to not dwell on her own internal monologue.
she's frantically moving around the downstairs of the house when the doorbell rings -- arms full of odds and ends she decided to clean up while waiting for his arrival. "one second," eve calls out, quickly shoving the blanket, books, and pair of shoes in her arms into the hall closet. pushing hands through her hair, she takes a deep breath and moves to the front door, silently willing her heartbeat to calm down. "hey," eve greets him once the door is open, hoping that her tone sounds more calm and casual than she feels. (elijah has always been good at reading her, the blonde has a feeling he can see her nerves all over her face.) after standing there for a moment too long, she lets him in, stepping back from the door as he walks in. "i put a pizza in the oven," she starts, "it's one of those frozen ones... i figured you haven't all day, either."
