What does being beloved look like?

🏳️‍🌈 It’s been 10 years since I first went to the Gay Christian Network’s annual conference. I was so scared, so nervous, and so young (hahahaha). I was just beginning to reconcile my faith with my sexuality and I was “out” to only a few trusted people. Because I was (and still am) Gay; I didn’t fully think God loved me... I certainly didn’t think God would ever use me as a pastor or priest. However, for me that hotel ballroom in Alexandra, VA was transformationally a “thin place” where I experienced the Abundant and Amazing Grace of Jesus Christ in a fathomless and renewed way. A lot has changed (mostly for the better) in that decade... some of the most valuable are the deep-rooted friends (of which I could only locate a few pictures with on Facebook and many of whom I see all too rarely) who helped me listen to God’s call on my life, and helped me learn to love others and myself more authenticity. I wish I could be in Denver, CO this week... however to all who are gathering (and those like me who can’t make it); know you remain in my prayers; with thanksgiving, with hope, with love! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 #FaithfullyLGBT #GCNConf #GayAndChristian

A small group of students from The King's University, a Christian liberal arts institution in Edmonton, Alberta oversee S.P.E.A.K. (Sexuality, Pride, Equality, Alliance at King's). This student led group primarily stands to provide a safe space for queer and questioning students and secondarily to foster community and learning within that safe space. It is an inclusive community that seeks to bring LGBTQ+ students together to discuss topics of sexuality and gender in a non-discriminatory environment. ​This group has also taken on the role of educating the wider King's community about important LGBTQ+ issues.
