Okay, um...a modern adaptation of Dracula would be perfect to set in Georgia. Specifically Milledgeville and Athens/Atlanta.

Professor Van Helsing working at a college in Athens. Dr. Jack Seward working at/running Central State mental hospital in Milledgeville. Lucy, Arthur, Quincy, and Mina all being college students at GCSU. Johnathan still being a real estate agent and Mina's fiancé. Still traveling abroad to help Drac settle in America (he tried England once, many years ago, and found it not to his liking).

Lucy is a sorority girl but she is in that service oriented sorority we had and is just beloved by everyone, but suffers from sleepwalking and her roommate Mina, who studies Mass Comm or something, is often having to get up in the middle of the night to guide her sleeping friend back.

When Lucy is attacked by drac for the first time it's in that graveyard that's like, a stones throw from the dorms. When she first starts getting sick she is sent to student health services...who are about as useful as they ever are.

Arthur, her new fiancé, and Quincy, her boyfriend from Texas, ask Jack to take a look at her since he at least is a doctor and might be able to tell them something.

Maybe Jack has a podcast on the side.

He calls his old professor, Prof. Van Helsing, from Georgia State U. to come take a look at his crush (also gf?) (because they can be poly in a modern adaptation?)

As the semester ends, Van Helsing advises Lucy to transfer to, idk, Tech or something in Atlanta - just get out of Milly because girl you are not being helped here - and Lucy is nervous to do so alone, so Arthur transfers with her while Mina plans to after the next semester because she is still waiting for Johnathan to get home so they can get married (plus being married would give her financial aid assistance when transferring to a new school. That was definitely a thing for some girls when I were at GCSU)

Johnathan and Mina are walking down the street in Atlanta when he sees Dracula and has a panic attack.

Van Helsing commutes to Atlanta to see to Lucy who is sicker than ever.

Dracula gets the wolf from the Atlanta Zoo. Or Dracula uses coyotes instead of wolves because that's what he is able to summon in Georgia.

Lucy is buried in her family plot in Savannah, where there are mausoleums in graveyards. And of course, when kids start talking about the "bloofer lady" everyone shrugs because "well hey, Savannah is just haunted like that."

Like...it all falls into place
