He’s long suspected his lawyer is involved in...extra-judicial pursuits. At any rate, Will is good at knowing when people are hiding, practiced enough with it in himself to recognize the signs even without his remarkable empathy. The blindness is genuine, of course, but the best kind of hiding is done in plain sight, as it were--a blind man would be less likely to be perceived as an agent of chaos, even, than a dutiful servant of the law.
Vigilantism, stopping those bad people who’ve evaded the law’s long arm, doing what the justice system can’t? Or playing God?
