my leopard gecko is old enough to be sexed but its proving quite confusing

so, males have a hemipenal bulge and pre-anal pores

bones has the bulge, but no pores. only females lack those pores. idk wat to do

im only vaguely concerned cuz i wanted to breed him at some point but if hes intersex he'll probly get benched and be pet only. dont wanna put my gecks thru that unless i know for sure im gonna get babies, yknow?

but i wouldnt be upset, i still dont know exactly what genes he has so even if i did breed him theyd have to be pet only (so no one breeds the babies. leopard gecko genes r sensitive. cross the wrong morphs and you'll get a very sick gecko)

in the meantime im gonna try to finish my slbb a little bit i guess??? try to crank out my rough draft by the 19th. i might ask for an extension just because im working a lot between now and then and that's gonna be a fucking bitch and a half.

felix is going to town licking calcium powder from the dish i gave him (and by dish i mean a powerade cap)!!! which is really exciting because it's been in there for like, a month, and i've never seen him even notice it was there beside stepping in it occasionally and stuff. good i am glad, good job lil buddy. u get those vitamins.

Figured out a new way to gutload mealworms for Felix! Pretty excited about it, actually. Started gutloading them in a small cricket carrier filled with about an inch of powdered cricket food & organic oat bran, mixed with about 2tbsp of reptile calcium, then went to Whole Foods and got a TON of fresh organic fruits and veggies. I've got three carrot sticks and two huge slices of red bell pepper in there, and probably 50-75 giant mealworms feeding for the next 24hrs. Obviously he's not gonna eat them all, so I'll put all the gutloaded ones back in the fridge for him to chow on later this week & next week.

Despite eating his mealworms, crickets, and waxworms, his weight gain seemed to plateau at about 55g, so I was getting kinda worried, especially considering the size of Kim's gecko, Pandora (which has since been brought home with Kim) [no seriously, Pandora was probably 60+ grams and gaining steadily, despite being a bit younger than Felix]. Hopefully this will kick-start him into a growth spurt and put some fat back onto his tail, especially since winter seems to have gone and the temps are coming back up, so he seems much more active.

I'm looking forward to seeing how he does!
