I know it's kind of a minor thing, but: I'm getting disturbed by this trend by older men in Geek Fandom who have obviously named their daughters after fictional characters.
A Nintendo podcaster with a daughter named Dixie.
A fighting game content creator with a daughter named Ripley.
The fact that Kevin Smith's daughter is named Harley Quinn.
To be clear, these are fine names for one to choose for oneself. And I cannot say for sure what role their mothers played in these names. I just cringe to think about the moment the daughter realizes that their father picked out a name based primarily on his entertainment interests at the time,
which probably reflects his limited engagement with and understanding of womanhood as a whole.

Look. All I’m saying is no one gets to complain about modern reboots of old characters being redesigned as Black, People of Color, LGBTQ+, or (non-sexualized) women when they’re the ones turning literally everything into a “kawaii desu”-ass Big Tittied Anime Waifu.
Grown-ass adults often depict these redesigns as being HELLA underage girls—but, holy shit, that is another…
