what motivates viv?

      on a positive note, she’s an incredibly driven person and enjoys what she does, so her passion is genuine and very much there.  she’s grateful for her trade and that she has the means to work on her craft.        on a less than lovely note :  fear, insecurity, doubt, pain, spite.  she grew up in very suffocating environments that limited her freedom, and then on top of that, the moment she assumed she was free she entered into a marriage that choked out all her independence.  she was pushed back into the quiet housewife role and constantly made to feel like it was all she could do.  now that’s she beyond that, she obsesses with legacy, purpose, and success.  she wants something that’s all her own and that can’t be taken away from her.  honestly?  she wants her ex-husband to roll in his grave a thousand times over before she goes to hers.  above all else, behind a prideful woman is a fearful little girl who just wants to be remembered and cherished.  and since she’s never felt needed for who she was as a person ?  she’s settled for being desired because of what she can do.

be  kind  to  others.  show  empathy.  Atlas’  patience  often  wavered  with  his  henchmen,   but  whenever  strangers  --- innocents ---  expressed  troubles,   there  was  a  pang  of  care  that  was  nigh  impossible  to  ignore.  ❝    hey now,  ’s  not  all  bad,    ❞   a  smile  formed  on  his  exhausted  features,  temporarily  washing  away  the  stress  that  had  been  weighing  him  down.  an  inaudible  sigh  left  him,   the  words  not  exactly  coming  to  him  with  ease.  he  could  barely  soothe  himself,   how  was  he  supposed  to  comfort  anyone  else?

    hope county will never completely recover, and why should it? betrayals aplenty, friends are few, and the very idea of the county’s namesake was in a stranglehold. a microcosm of civil war had pitted side against side for the fate of this fair verona of sorts. avery isn’t sure whether or not she trusts this woman, but all the same the medic shrugs.  ❛  if  people  give  a  shit  it’ll  work  itself  out,  if  not?  we’re  screwed.  ❜ 

      SO PENSIVE !  And yet this girl’s words dropped casually, tumbled from unsmiling lips.  Vivienne smiled on account of the both of them, a small display of civility in the midst of a crusade.  Oh, she’s a little crude, but discouragement doesn’t come easy for the older woman.  Avery Harper was a valuable creature.  Complex, perhaps fractured, but her acts of obligation hadn’t been overlooked.

      “ I don’t want to talk about them, ”  Vivienne offered in return, soft, but voice weighted with some sort of intention.  Like the heavy breeze that brushed by right before a storm overtook the horizon.  “ What about you ?  Oh  --  don’t misunderstand me here.  You’re the one who has to manage the carnage.  Well, you and the VULTURES. ”

          ( ♛ )   ────    “ That’s one way of seeing things. ” he said while watching her stitching the flesh wound on his arm. She probably had her reasons to say something like this. Was he gonna blame her? No, definitely not. It’s not like she was wrong. He himself had been in this situation as well. A whole nation took its blame and threw it onto him as if he was the cure everyone was waiting for. In the end, it turned out to be a way of pushing off the guilt. Ajay learned to live with that. Still, he tried to change his mindset everytime. 

          For a moment, he kept quiet. Until he suddenly pushed her hands away from his arms. Avery was helpful, she did more than she had to. There were only a few people in this county who were willing to help one of Jacob’s men. Also because they’re unpredictable.  “ I gotta go now, sorry. Thank you for your help. ”

how does andi feel about the reaping and what happened to her fellow jr deputies? does she internalize her emotions or lash out?

      since andromeda isn’t ROOK, her general feelings to any junior deputy she encounters are, at baseline, neutral positive.  she likes the junior deputy just fine.  she doesn’t think they deserve what’s happened to them, if we go by the canon events.      she also didn’t think hudson or pratt, or even the marshal, deserved their fates either.  it’s good to note here that there were multiple times that andromeda considered quitting and moving on from hope county, but her mind distorted her desire to flee as cowardly and a sign of giving up on everything she had worked to create for herself.  it’s not like being a cop was something she had been dreaming of doing.  it was a situational role and a whim.  she truly believes there are much better people than her.  that doesn’t mean there isn’t an innate desire to protect anyone that’s considered “ on her team ” but obviously that’s become something that’s very hard to do.  she really tried to keep the marshal from the bliss, and if presented with the means would do what she could for any of the other captured deputies.  if met with the junior deputy, she’d offer a helping hand, which is why i refer to her as a gun-for-hire.  at that point her badge would have been stripped in the misery and she would have considered that some sort of sign  ;  a DEFEAT.       sometimes people’s paths diverge  &  don’t meet back up under pleasant circumstances.

'well you're clearly popular,' she's trying to be funny but her bedside manner's lacking. her focus is more on his stitches and patching him up, 'it could've been a lot worse. consider yourself lucky.'

eyes averted away from where she works. somehow it won’t hurt as much if he doesn’t witness the needle digging into his skin. or so his likes to think. teeth grit and eyes shut tightly all too focused on maintaining a center of grounding he feels he needs to keep.  her joke runs flat but he can at least appreciate the effort. “clearly,” he mumbles still through those teeth clenched.

could’ve been a lot worse. maybe he is lucky but he sure doesn’t feel that way because instead of just physical wounds there are now doubts about his entire life within hope county. so instead of just physical pain the mental anguish is running rampant. the woman was crazed. surely he shouldn’t listen to her, but yet there were points she made that make sense. what the hell is he supposed to do with such information. 

an arrow to the shoulder. one to the knee. he should feel lucky.  “yeah … i guess it could’ve been.”
