before steven sai george name, the prism as show with no form, and say something, i think is ''Watch this out Steven''', can you confirm it?
Actually, it says “Check this out Steven”, but yeah - and thanks for the reminder, I completely forgot about this line!
Assuming we won’t get to see the full lowercase and capitalized alphabet in Unleash the Light, does anyone know if it’s possible to hack into/rip the game to see if the full font is in the files?
have you tried translating examples of gem language in the show with your chart?
Not yet - unfortunately, I’m missing 9 lowercase letters and 23 capitalized letters so far.
On top of that, the storybook from the movie uses a lot more symbols than I’ve compiled so far, more so than they should considering I have over half the alphabet already, so I’m actually worried the game’s alphabet isn’t the true alphabet and wa merely used as a font in the game, while the true alphabet used in the show is still a mystery that Steven Sugar is keeping from us.
The current Gem alphabet as of the second part of this playthrough (for ease, I borrowed the rune chart from the Madoka Magica wiki).
To reiterate, Gems appear to use different characters for the lowercase and capitalized forms of the same letter, and so far only seem to use capital letters at the start of proper pronouns like “My” and names*. In this chart, lowercase letters are on the left, capitalized on the right.
*Edit: The game is inconsistent with whether it uses an apostrophe in a contraction or not (some instances have them, some don’t), and at least one sentence began with a capitalized letter despite the word not being a proper pronoun. I don’t believe this breaks my theory so much as it’s just an inconsistency/mistake by the game devs.
I will be updating this chart regularly.
UPDATE: This chart is now “finished”, as all instances of Gem dialogue have been translated. The unknown letters are:
Lowercase: Q, Z
Uppercase: B, E, F, L, N, P, Q, R, U, V, W, X, Z
Putting more pics under a readmore
Edit: I will be updating this post regularly.
Putting these in an image post in the hopes they’ll look bigger.
Holy shiiiiiit
Unleash the Light uses official Gem script, AND it’s actually translatable this time!!!
Given the context of the line and Steven serving as a translator, AND the reliable repetition of letters compared to English, this sentence perfectly translates to “I don’t want to be a weapon”
We finally have a proper cipher for Gem language!!!
EDIT: including a (hopefully) better picture
