houseki no kuni in my humble opinion has one of the best representations of immortality, I really managed to get a sense of real immortality, their story takes billions of years to unfold and I loved everything, Phos in his process of "becoming human" is pure poetry for me, as he becomes "human" it is him going crazy, being afraid, looking for something to fight for, looking for a purpose, looking for freedom, deteriorating throughout the process, losing parts of his own body and replacing them with others that don't belong to him. they belong and distance themselves from themselves throughout a painful immortality and I confess that I shed tears in the final chapter with that choir of stones and then Fhos becoming a comet..... oh heavens!!!! the most innocent and fragile being in the work becoming a cosmic divinity!!!!!!!
