quite honestly these are just becoming general posts for weird weapons. i’m pretty sure a good deal of you who fave and/or reblog these just do it to have a neat selection of weapons around. and i’m fine with that, i helped and that’s all i need. Besides, keeping the gemsona part makes this easier to organize with the past ones. So regardless of your feelings about gemsonas or SU in general, these posts can still give you some neat ideas.
I have no idea what these kinds of bows are called. all i know is that they come from south american tribes and allow the arrows to be launched with much greater force than a normal one.
While on the topic of bows, why not look at the slingbow? its a slingshot made to fire normal sized arrows in a compact package.
tonfas are neat but what about a bladed tonfa? or in this case more like a blade strapped to your arm.
War picks are basically pickaxes made for combat. they have appeared across multiple cultures too. (this one is Japanese)
the cinquedea is an italian weapon often considered to be either a shortsword or a long dagger. looks cool though.
once again the Maori give us a neat weapon. the tewhatewha is a wooden club with an axe-like shape on one end. its also fairly long, so more of a staff than a club.
Jai’alai is a sport that uses these arm mounted scoops to catch and throw balls at high speeds. so this could be a neat way to launch projectiles or catch them to be thrown back at the attacker.
the falx is a curved sword with the edge on the inside of the curve. Not much else to it but its more unique than a typical curved sword.
throwing spikes are just that. pointed metal rods you throw.
and finally there is the buckler. an almost hilariously tiny shield, but its low weight along with curved surface to bounce away weapons can make it a good defensive weapon in the right hands. Or you could just use two and beat them with tiny shields.

This is a special theme today. All of these are based on things animals can do. and i’m not talking about retractable claws and all that crap, i’m showing off some weird stuff along with how a gem can use it.
The poison dart frogs have skin covered in toxin that harms anyone who touches them. So you could have a gem with a body that simply hurts to touch whenever they have their power activated.
The Pistol Shrimp has a giant claw that it can snap together at such a high speed, it creates a directed shockwave that can stun or kill smaller prey. So just have someone with a weird arm or something that can do this.
The Mantis Shrimp has club-like limbs that produce the most powerful punch an animal can make. Seriously, these things hit with the force of a rifle bullet. you could have a piston shaped mechanism on an arm that punches with even greater force.
Archerfish spit water at bugs to knock them down so they may be eaten, they can do this with unusually good accuracy. Maybe have someone that can perceive exactly where to strike with a different weapon and attack with great accuracy.
Termites can spit acid, that’s how they can eat through wood. so yeah, an acid sprayer or something.
this thing is called a hagfish. it can produce absurd amounts of mucus that acts like sticky webbing so they can distract predators long enough to get away. so someone could make slime that can stick and solidify very quickly and in generous amounts.
Did you know a tiger’s roar is actually a weapon? The frequency of the roar (along with the volume) has been shown to briefly paralyze animals and people (even experienced handlers) So i guess someone with a non-lethal sound based weapon?
Leeches are gross as hell so i am not putting a picture here. But they do show an interesting concept with being able to suck out blood. What if someone could absorb energy. like electrical energy they can discharge, or kinetic energy they store up for more powerful hits.
Porcupines have barbed quills that they raise up in defense. So what would a more high tech or energy based solution to this be? I would imagine an electrical defense field around the user or something. or you could just keep the spikes if you want.
Owls have special feathers on their wings that allow them to fly in near silence (pictured below are said feathers of a barn owl) So imagine someone being able to negate all sound around themselves so no one can hear them move or attack.
