Umaashiashiabiabihikofuji-no-Kami ~The god of life force
In the Kojiki, after the appearance of the three gods, when the earthly world was still like grease floating on water and drifting in chaos like jellyfish, This God is made up of things that sprout and grow like a budding reed. He is the fourth God. Next in line is Amenotokotachi-no-Kami, the 'Foundation of Heaven'. It is natural to think of this god as the power that rises up from the earth to form the 'Foundation of Heaven'.
In other words, this deity tells us that the part of the earth opposed to the heavens flared up and separated up to the heavens, and by its generative and vital force the 'Foundation of Heaven' was formed.

記紀に登場する主な神々(5)
宇摩志阿斯訶備比古遅神（うましあしかびひこぢのかみ） ~生命力を象徴する神 「古事記」では、造化三神が現れた後、まだ地上世界が水に浮かぶ脂のようで、クラゲのように混沌と漂っていたときに、この神は、葦が芽を吹くように萌え伸びるものによって成った神としている。すなわち4番目の神である。 そして、この次には「天の礎」とも言える天之常立神（あめのとこたちのかみ）が登場する。とすれば、この宇摩志阿斯訶備比古遅神とは、大地から萌えあがって「天の礎」を形成する力と考えるのが自然だろう。
つまり、この神は、天に対置される大地の一部が天上へと燃え上がり分離し、その生成力・生命力により「天の礎」が形成されたことを告げている。
