iidk i was once a little girl but only bc i was told to be that. i was a girl in the way a bird is a bird but doesnt know its a bird. it knows that it has to live, it has instincts to survive, it has wings. those factors apply to so many other things. does a house wren see an owl and know theyre both birds? does a house wren ever look at an owl and wonder if it will look like that in the future? or does it expect to stay a house wren? i did not look at a woman and think that was me in the future; i saw it as a goal to achieve because it was expected, not out of self determination. i was perpetually going to be a little girl in my mind because i could never see myself realistically as being a woman. i was once a little girl because i was told that was who i was. sometimes i wonder who i would've been as a child otherwise. was i robbed of my childhood because of the social expectations of my assumed gender
