How does an animal misgender someone?

Well I can't say for sure that animals understand the concept of gender but they certainly do categorize people and some of the categories they use will align strongly with traditional gender identifiers. For example, they may categorize people with facial hair as a certain Type Of People, and this category of people is generally going to be what humans deem as men.

It isn't terribly frequently that I meet an animal who prefers a particular gender (or rather traits that are associated with one gender) but it does happen. Just like people, they compare me to a list of traits they've established and place me in whichever category they've decided I am. Since I'm nonbinary, picking any category is technically misgendering me. It isn't gendering me in the way that a human would, but the results are about the same.

any of you guys see that "Archie Comics" post around here that is male and female gender traits and it's all: "When guys are talking its okay but when girls are talkig its gossip"
