Created this now. Like, just now. @genderbenduniverse , @the-cat-reads @comfortablynumb , @witchy-lassie , @affybackintime , thanks for the encouragement. Here you go.
Reyna's POV
Finally, they took down the Temussian fox. The ex-preator had never had such a burden removed from her in her life.
Little did she know that it wasn't the only burden that had been cast off.
Reyna Avila Ramirez-Arellano woke up in the solitude of her camp tent feeling lighter.
Not Camp Jupiter, of course. She'd left them behind in the capable hands of her colleague Frank Zhang and ex-centurion Hazel Levesque.
No, she was in the camp of the maiden goddess Artemis and her all-female band of Hunters. She had become a Hunter herself not too long ago—or was it such a short time? Immortality and the daily activities of the Hunt made it hard to keep track of the days passing.
Maybe that was what made her feel lighter. She was free, without the responsibilities of leadership. She was rid of the burden of counting days, living a regular life. Above all, she, the rest of the Hunters, and Artemis had caught and killed the Temussian fox—a fox that was cursed to never be caught—just yesterday, when she had feared the curse would go on for the rest of her life.
A deer horn sounded—the Hunt's wake-up call, maybe.
Reyna leapt to her feet.
It was then she saw the change. No wonder she felt so, so, so light.
Her boobs—a woman's eternal burden—had disappeared.
Reyna somehow found the courage to keep calm. It was probably just a bad dream. In a few minutes, she'd wake up as a b-cupped nineteen-year-old Puerto Rican girl.
But when the horn sounded three more times, she felt as awake as she usually did. She also became aware that she needed to answer the call of nature.
And then she saw—she saw…
She yelled as if she'd seen what she had seen on someone else. But she was certain the strange enlargement sticking out from her pj bottoms was solely hers.
In fear, she ran out of the tent—bumping into someone in the process.
“Reyrey,” a deep voice called.
Reyna leapt in fear. No, she shouldn't be seen with men. Just because she had a boner didn't mean she could break the oath she'd made to an Olympian goddess.
She balled her fists and put them in front of her. “Leave my camp or—uh…”
She took a better glance at the person of forbidden gender. He had black punk hair, angel-blue eyes, and freckles that were in nearly the same pattern as their lieutenant's. Hell, he wore the same headless-Barbie pj's Thalia had worn the day before.
“D-don't just lie there!” Reyna said, her fists still ready for combat. “Speak your purpose or—”
The man did a handstand, then lightly karate-kicked Reyna in the face.
“Don't sass me, preator,” the deep-voiced person said. “You're late enough for the emergency meeting. If there's anyone I'm gonna take to our…lady, it's you.”
“Thalia?” Reyna called.
“No, Green Day. Of course it's me. I just got a little Jasony.”
With no more words, she—he?—dragged her away.
Morning muster was awfully spacious.
Usually, the Hunt sat on logs to make a full circle. Now, they stood in rows, each Hunter six feet apart from the other. Artemis—or, from what Reyna was seeing, a black-haired, twelve-year-old Apollo—stood in front of them.
“Have you fetched what's left of Reyna, Thalia?“ Artemis asked. Her voice was shrill, but still quite masculine.
“Yes, lady Artemis,” Thalia said, kneeling before the goddess—god?
“Now that everyone has been summoned,” Artemis began, “I'll tell you what I know about the recent…changes in our base.”
The little noise died after Artemis's last word.
“I swear by the River Styx that I know nothing,” Artemis said. She waited for her father's customary thunderclap to cease before speaking further. “All I can do is speculate. A good guess is that we've incurred the wrath of the Temussian fox's spirit. It makes sense since it should've known that we're all female and must turn our backs to the company of men, and the best punishment should be to make us men.”
The goddess's band of Hunters shivered collectively.
“I'm just as uncomfortable as you are, Hunters. I've seen—I saw what I never hoped to see in my life on myself this morning. That's right, Felicia Dalton. I saw male private parts on my body. No, Julia Gomez, I will not speak of its size. You all have yours.”
A few laughed. Since Artemis didn't call for silence, the joke was intentional.
“It's disturbing, disgusting, strange…and that is why I offer to find a solution. I will seek my brother Apollo for his thoughts on what could be the reason for this change,” Artemis said. “Sadly, it'll take a few hours. The sun isn't up yet, as we can all see. My brother hates being woken up before five a.m Coordinated Universal Time. I'm not in the state to have a lunar eclipse.”
“But it's only three a.m UTC, Artemis,” Thalia complained. “Lots of the hunters need to use the bathroom and…and our new anatomy is confusing. Do we aim? Do we sit? Damn.”
“Now you're using the words of men!” Olga of Luxembourg screeched.
“Calm down,” Artemis said. “I suggest aiming, but be good at it. We're Hunters, for Zeus's sake. Don't disgrace your skills by streaking the floor or toilet seat with your urine. Clear?”
“Yes, our la—Artemis,” the Hunters chanted.
“Proceed with what we would do in our natural forms. Our bodies may have morphed, but we are women in heart and mind,” Artemis said. “ Siproites, Vic, Preet, and Morgan; I believe you will have the easiest time in this form. Please educate your fellow hunters wherever they may have difficulty.”
“Yes, Artemis,” chorused the four. Siproites, Morgan, Vic and Preet had been men before the recent changes. Reyna knew only of Siproites case—he had seen Artemis bathing, but the goddess took pity on the innocent boy and made him a girl. The rest must've been similar.
“Until we meet again,“ Artemis said.
More lighthearted ML idea: An Akuma that changes a person's sex hits Ladybug/Marinette and then proves hard to track down. So, Marinette has to go to class as a male until the Akuma's found, but he manages that well enough. The rest of the class has two problems. 1. Marinette seems to be adapting to being a boy almost *too* well. 2. Male!Marinette is really, *really* handsome.
Confusing hormones
This is a short draft. Gender swap fics are not my forte
Monique was really confused about her sexual orientation. It didn’t help that her parents weren’t that supportive. They had an argument and Monique got akumatized into Gender Bender (yeah...I’m not happy with her name either)
While fighting, Ladybug got hit. But Gender Bender knew better than to stay around once the lucky charm was summoned. Gender Bender immediately hid and disguised herself with really stereotypical boy clothing.
It sucks, but Ladybug can only undo akuma magic until Gender Bender is defeated.
And since the akuma is relatively harmless this time, if inconvenient, class is back in session.
And as expected, Marin is late.
This time, his late arrival definitely brings all eyes to him. Not just because of his timing, and newly changed gender, but because SINCE WHEN WAS MARINETTE THAT HOT?
(Personally I blame the pigtails)
But the point is, Marin came to school dressed in motor-casual clothes that were a bit tight (enough to reveal the contours of his muscled chest). His noir hair was disheveled but adorable. Flushed cheeks highlighted chiselled cheekbones.
“Sorry, I’m late, Ms Bustier. I had a wardrobe emergency.” Lord, even his voice was deep and dreamy.
Everyone had to slap themselves to snap out of it. This was still the same clumsy, endearing Marinette who keeps babbling in front of Adrien.
Except when Adrien complimented Marinette’s wardrobe, Marin hesitated before coherently thanking Adrien in a quiet voice, his cheeks just the faintest shade of rose.
What????
This is a problem. Especially since Chloé and Lila cant seem to find it in themselves to together to bully Marin while he’s that hot.
They’re waiting for some wake up call that this is Marinette, but Marin easily talks video games, seems to have become more athletic (those are impressive muscles), and even goes into the boy’s bathroom after a moment’s pause without stopping (anybody watched Jumanji?)
Chloé and Lila try to return to mocking Marin, but their efforts fall flat and Marin easily rebuffs them.
It even stings to feel his rejection.
As Marinette easily talks to the boys, the girls feel giggly talking to their friend, except for Mylene and Alya.
Marinette hated this.
She can’t talk to her girl friends. Chloé and Lila are acting weird and it’s making her paranoid. And she doesn’t know how to deal with her feelings for Adrien.
It felt awkward being in love with Adrien when she felt so unfamiliar in this new body. And the idea just led to more confusing ideas so she decided to just ignore the whole matter completely.
It doesn’t help that her clothes are too tight. These jeans are giving her a wedgie! And people keep staring at her, it makes her want to hide.
Even her earrings changed to silver ring earrings, and Tikki had to hide in her school bag because there is no way her pink purse would match her current ensemble.
By the time the akuma reappeared, Marin was all to eager to head back to the fight.
While everyone was relieved things could go back to normal, Adrien asked his father whether Marinette could be a model too. It would be great having another friend onset to help him deal with Lila.
His father’s response: I’ll consider it.
After all, Lila would hate to be upstaged, leaving her susceptible to his akuma. Though maybe Marinette should lose the pigtails.
some snippets I hope to one day turn into actual fics but are, for now, just snippets! Critical Role edition;
What if when Beau and Molly did insight on Caleb after asking if he had/has kids, what if they rolled just as high jokingly asking Nott the same question. AU where Nott is found out early on that she is a mom, but everyone are still convinced it’s a goblin child. Based off of the early episodes of cr, right after the Howling Mines;
“Well, if Caleb got no kids, what about you Nott?” Beau asks, tipping her chair back, balancing on the back legs of it. The way she says the question is snarky and haha-funny, the way the boys back home used to ask Veth if she really thought anyone would want to kiss her. The way her brothers not so kindly teased her about buttons. Jester’s giggles, Fjord’s sigh, Molly’s snort- of course no one would think Nott has any children. She’s a little goblin girl.
She thinks about Luc and chokes back the affirmation.
“HAH!” Nott laughs and she fumbles when she puts her mask back on, inches closer to Caleb, the chair too big for her to move the whole thing but it’s alright. They already sat close together. “Me! Kids! Haha, funny. Nope! No kids here!”
Everyone at the table grow still. They stare at her, and yes, maybe Nott laughed too loudly, too shrill. But the mask is back on, so it should be fine. They can only see her eyes like this. It’s fine.
“Nott…” Caleb slowly says, and no, no- “Do you… have a child?”
Female!Fjord AU; cursing
She thinks it would be easier, if she had been born a man. Easier to gain respect- deepen your voice, flex your muscles. Be deserving of it, act like a proper half orc that knows how to be civilized.
It’s harder as a woman. It shouldn’t be, she knows. But pretty women gain respect easier than the ugly ones and, well. Half orcs are never the pretty ones. She tried to file down her tusks and all she did was give herself more scars, and the fucking orphanage wasn’t exactly an ego boost for a scrawny girl with too big ears, too green skin and too big teeth.
It’s stupid to even try and look pretty. She still does, though. Even if the only job she can get is onboard Vandran’s ship. He mutters about how impractical such long hair is at sea as if he doesn’t have long hair himself, but Fjord just keeps it braided and tucked away and pretends she doesn’t hear. When she crawls back onto land with a strange sword and horror crawling up her throat, she buys a nice cloak. It has little swirling flowers on the hem.
When she meets Jester who calls her pretty and asks if they can travel together, Fjord doesn’t say no. It’s the first time, after all, that anyone ever called her that.
Besides, Jester is cute. She’s funny.
And Fjord is lonely.
Female!Caleb AU;
Her hair is longer than she remembers liking, tangled and dirty and more brown than red. She wishes she could grow a beard to hide her face further- but the matted mess is good enough. A bit of dirt helps, too. No one would look at her now and think of Brianna.
Brianna was clean and proper, with shoulder length hair, patched but neat pants and too many books and a big grin on her face.
No, she is Caleb like this. And, somehow, Nott never commented too much on the male name that she had picked out by accident, mind catching on a long dead uncle’s memory as she met those goblin eyes in the dark jail. At least Caleb is as far away from Brianna as one can get. It’s actually a bit of a relief, and most people are too polite to do more than blink when she introduces herself.
She’s Caleb. Brianna…. is put away. It’s not a safe name, anyway.
When Jester asks to brush her hair, she says no. When Beau offers to cut it, she says no. It’s too dirty, too long, too matted- but it’s fine the way it is. So much safer.
Nott laughs and smears a bit of dirt onto Caleb’s cheeks, and Caleb smiles back and puts a dot of dirt onto the very tip of Nott’s nose.
When Nott asks if she can make Caleb a flower crown, she says yes.
AU where everything’s the same except Chloé is Cole, and instead of picking on Marinette, he is infatuated with her. I know I do this a lot with Kaito and Lionel, but it’s bc I hate seeing Adrien with all these jerks while Marinette has all these total sweethearts. I think Adrien should get a real love rival.
This is a rough draft
Cole’s hidden heart
Growing up, Cole was not so close to his Mother, but he was partially influenced by her. In a world of publicity, you could either be a shark or shark bait. Cole chose the former.
Growing up, Cole grew to resent his Mother and Gabriel Agreste for neglecting him and his bro Adrien.
Then Cole met Marinette, a budding designer with raw talent and a sweet personality.
By then, Cole had established himself as the school bully. He wasn’t going to break his reputation, especially when Marinette probably would never give a bully a chance.
So Cole expressed his crush the only way he knew how to deal with people, by bullying her more than others. But in some ways, he tried to help her too.
When Marinette wore her new designs, Cole was vicious in his critics. The fashion world could be brutal and it would be best if Marinette grew a thick skin fast.
When akumas showed up, Cole diverted their attention from Marinette by insulting them.
When the Style Queen invited Marinette to go to New York with her, Cole did his best to discourage his Mother. He knew it would be an experience of the Devil wears Prada for Marinette. Audrey didn’t listen but Marinette declined at the last minute because for some reason, she thought Cole missed his Mother! As if!
When Lila returned, Cole exposed her out of the excuse that only he could make Marinette miserable.
That drew Marinette’s attention to him in a positive light. Before, Cole had always pranked her and humiliated her in front of Adrien. She assumed he didn’t like to share his friends. But then he actually noticed her sadness when nobody else did.
Tikki suggested that maybe Cole had been targeting her specifically because he liked her.
It seemed ridiculous but why not test the theory.
Marinette asked Adrien to ask on her behalf. When Adrien pretends to ask Cole if he should ask Marinette out, Cole immediately says no. But if Adrien should ask out Kagami, Cole is much more relaxed, pointing out the fencer’s flaws. Adrien accuses Cole of having a crush on Marinette. After some pushing and prodding, Cole finally confesses.
Marinette is now torn between 2 blondes.
Marigami with a twist: the Kagami episodes but now Kagami is a boy who is interested in Marinette. How does the series change?
Meet Kaito Tsuguri
How I see this happening...
Technically the scenes as Riposte continue canon until Adrien arrives to ask for a rematch. Because Adrien isn’t smitten on first sight.
Anyway, at the end, Adrien recommends Marinette as a good friend and this prompts Kaito to give her a chance should he see her again.
They meet officially at the ice rink. Kaito is Adrien’s wingman as he tries to give dating an elated Marinette a go. Sadly, Adrien isn’t ready to give up on Ladybug. Marinette hides her sadness and accepts his apology.
They didn’t really get a chance to form a friendship until the movie premiere.
During the movie premiere, since Marinette isn’t trying to sabtoage Kagami, Adrien reintroduces her to Kaito and hopes they can bond.
Kaito perceptively recognises her still-present crush on Adrien and approves her commitment and focus. (He hasn’t met Luka yet)
He and Marinette get along well. And since Kaito has limited friends.... he intends to head to Caline’s class more often to greet his only 2 friends.
Marinette recognises how lonely Kaito must be feeling and resolves to widen his social circle, starting with his own class.
As Marinette leads Kaito into a more colourful world, he finds himself falling for this girl who led him there.
But Marinette still likes Adrien. Kaito once says to Marinette that if things don’t work out with Adrien, he’ll be waiting for her.
Basically he pulls a Luka...
Of course he only confessed his feelings much, much later. It would take a love themed akuma to get him to confess...along with no witnesses.
This one’s complicated...Genderbend, post Miracle Queen: Marin finds out his parents are actually royalty & he’s a prince. He also finds out he’s betrothed to a snobby princess. Adrienne wakes up & realizes she loves him & she & the class all hero up & crash the Royal wedding.
The prince diaries
This is...new. I’m just gonna take some liberties. In this story...Italy has no president, but a king. I’ve seen Marinette fics where she is the descendent of an emperor but there’s no current emperor either. I’m also gonna let Gina and Rolland remain the same gender.
Gina has some news for Marin. She is actually the Princess of Italy, free to travel the world as she pleases. Her Brother is currently the king of Italy but since he has no heirs, he decides to name Marin his heir and to send for him to return to Italy.
Of course Marin just became the Guardian for the Miraculous and wants to refuse. But then Tikki points out he can just use Kaalki to multitask.
Marin’s leaving was sad but there was the consolation that Lionel Rossi had to scrape and flatter him since Marin could easily get Lionel’s parents fired. Marin forced Lionel to confess the truth. Of course an akuma came by but it was nothing the heroes couldn’t handle.
Marin adjusts to royal life and new education. He treats this as a chance to get over Adrienne.
Of course Adrienne misses Marin terribly. It kind of sours her relationship with Kaito. Eventually Kaito breaks up with her when he himself sees Adrienne realizing her hidden feelings for Marin.
Breaking news: Marin is engaged to Lady Violet, a snobby party girl.
Marin does not want to get married to Violet at all.
Italy king: too bad. I’m the ruler.
There had to be something Marin could do.
Oh wait...weren’t the previous miraculous holders all ancient heroes?
Mr Bug and Lady Noir agree to hatch a plan to rescue Marin from this forced marriage.
First, they would need Allen’s help. After all, Renard Rouge could create a convincing illusion of Italy’s respected ancestors.
At the wedding, Lady Noir secretly causes an earthquake that disrupts the ceremony. (Don’t worry. Nobody got hurt and there weren’t even cracks on buildings)
Renard casts the illusions of the ancients of Italy, protesting the forced marriage and declaring Lady Violet unworthy of the title of royal consort.
The illusion threatens that if the marriage takes place, Italy will face disasters never before seen.
Cowered by this display, the king breaks the engagement and Marin cheers.
Taking advantage of the situation, Marin asks if he can return to France. The illusions don’t mind since the king seems to need to learn some lessons before imparting any wisdom to Marin.
Marin packs his bags and heads back to Paris.
Everyone gladly greets him. Marin even faces Adrienne with a smile. Their time apart did help to heal his broken heart.
Adrienne is nervous and wants to ask Marin out but doesn’t think it’s the right time since he just got out of a wedding.
Marin wants to celebrate his freedom (until University when he will have to head back to Italy) most of all with Allen and Lady Noir.
Marin confesses to Allen that he wants to take a break from the romantic scene. Allen can understand that.
Adrienne eventually hears the news too and decides that she can wait.
By the time university rolls around, Marin is headed back to Italy. Adrienne is joining him as a model in the Italian branch of Gabrielle, and as his Girlfriend.
Genderbend: After breaking up with Kaito, Adrienne’s mom tries you force her to date Lionel. Adrienne lies and says she’s dating Marin, then begs him to help her fake it. Problem? The more time they spend together, she actually falls for him, & doesn’t know how to tell him bc she thinks no way does he return her feelings.
Almost perfect
After Kaito dumped Adrienne on the grounds of things weren’t working out, Gabrielle wanted Adrienne to date Lionel- immediately. She didn’t want Adrienne to appear on the news as the dumped party.
Sure there was the option of Cole, but Gabrielle wanted someone less influential if things went wrong.
Adrienne immediately protested...by stating she already asked out Marin...on Kaito’s advice (the last part was sorta true)
Gabrielle didn’t mind. Jealousy was jealousy, no matter who it came from.
Adrienne quickly begged Marin to be her fake Boyfriend, assuring Marin that Kaito suggested him.
Marin was reluctant. He knew it would be a painful experience pretending but he also hated the idea of Adrienne and Lionel dating. He accepted.
The news quickly got around about Marienne, headed by Ned Chmack. Cole and Lionel were furious and promptly akumatized several times. That got old quick.
Marin and Adrienne went out on public dates doing couple things like park strolls, restaurant meals, movie premieres, study sessions, visiting fairs.
And the thing was, it all felt so natural. Just right. Adrienne liked the feeling of Marin’s arm around her shoulder, his hand linked with hers. She looked forward to their public lip kisses (she had suggested to the nervous Marin that they treat it like acting)
But eventually, there came a time when Cole was sent away to New York since the Parisians finally protested his presence was constantly disrupting Parisian life since he is the main cause of akuma attacks (the last 2 dozen more or less were out for Cole’s blood). Lionel was also exposed when Adrienne finally admitted the high road was wrong in this case.
With 2 awful candidates after the role of Adrienne’s Boyfriend gone, Marin had no more reason to keep up this bittersweet charade and brought up their impending break up.
When Adrienne heard that, what surprised her was how hurt she had felt. Why did Marin want to break up with her? What did she do wrong?
Then she recalled that this was supposed to be fake. Somewhere along the line, she had fallen in love with Marin.
She loved Marin. And he didn’t love her back.
Adrienne said she needed time to think on how they should manage this break up.
Back at her mansion, Adrienne cried into her pillows while Plagg pointed out she could just ask Marin to be her real Boyfriend.
Adrienne: but he doesn’t want to be. You heard him. He wants to break up.
Plagg: gee...it’s not like he knows you like him.
Adrienne: if Marin really liked me, why would he want to break up?
Plagg: maybe he wants a real relationship?
Adrienne: with Lucy?
Plagg: what does the rocker have to do with this?! Listen to me, kid, before you attract an akuma. Ask Marin to be your real Boyfriend. You can even be a coward and do it on the phone, if you like. But get it over with. Where is that Lady Noir bravery when you were flirting with Mr Bug? Or do you think it’s easier to confess your love when you are hiding behind a mask?
Adrienne: that’s not true! My feelings for Mr Bug were real! It’s not my fault Mr Bug only knows me as Lady Noir. Besides, he’s the one insisting on this whole secrecy business.
Plagg: then if your feelings for Marin are just as real as your feelings for Mr Bug, what’s holding you back this time?
Adrienne paused. “Thank you Plagg.”
Adrienne rushed to the bakery. No way was she confessing to Marin via the phone.
Long story short, Adrienne got to speak to Marin alone and asked if they could start dating for real.
Marin: for real?
Adrienne nodded vigorously. “Yeah, for real.”
Marin smiled widely. “I can’t tell you how good it would feel to finally call you my real Girlfriend.”
And that is what they now had. A real, honest relationship. Things were finally perfect.
