11. Tell me a funny math story.

Though it's likely not exactly true the discovery of irrational numbers shocked Pythagoras so much that he pushed Hippasus (who is credited for the discovery) off of a boat causing Hippasus to drown

(note though that the Greeks were most likely not the first to discover irrational numbers since the Babylonians had a method for computing square roots)
