Clowning around
Okay, I know I have been doing quite a few Recruiters and Obey Me prompts, but I think I want to do one of original stories, more or less as a teaser, for this one.
Lorelle, Alistair, and Genelle.
Ever since Lorelle and Genelle came to the tiny village of Drusilla, their days of happiness and clowning around came to an end with the death of her first husband Joshua. He was a kind man of science who, even if he didn't understand magic, appreciated the things she could do with magic and left in wonder of it all and loved her and their daughter Genelle. Nothing in this world could have prepared her for widowhood when her husband fell ill with the plague, and nothing could have prepared her for the dreary days ahead when her brother-in-law Rupert came to retrieve her, marry her just three days later, and take her back to his dismal village that Drusilla.
Drusilla itself wasn't a horribly place so long as it wasn't the rainy season, it was a horrible place for her because of her husband was the village blacksmith, a man of power in this town, and threatened her life and her daughter's life if she ever used her magic. While her sweet and precious Genelle grew each day to favor her father with her curious mind, her fair blonde curly hair and green eyes that needed glasses, she thankfully did not possess an ounce of magic within her. Though her sweet Genelle desperately wanted to use magic like her mother, so long as they were under the blacksmith's roof, it was safer for them both that she never gains any powers from her.
Five years she was stuck in this miserable place and for the last five years she thankfully has not been able to sire Rupert's offspring. Joshua had explained to her long ago that their gene pool was small and the likelihood of them ever having children was slim, however his brother Rupert did not share the same mindset and blamed her for using black magic to prevent herself from bearing his children rather that believe in his own deficiency. While he thankfully never laid a hand on her daughter, Lorelle had grown accustomed to the bruises and scars that marred her hips and ribs and arms and how to not look as though she were in pain. If the villagers ever found out that the blacksmith beat his wife, well, little would be done to stop him as there was no one else in this village physically stronger than him. If she even dared to use magic to simply defend herself, the pain was always worse, and she couldn't bear to think of being hunted down again, especially not now that she had Genelle.
After remaining five years in a never-ending nightmare, her hopes of leaving grew fainter each day until one day in the market she accidentally ran into the most handsome Drow she ever set eyes upon. Tall, lanky, and lithe with silver hair braided down his back and golden eyes watched her as something within her recognized him. They shared a look as he assisted her in packing the food back into her basket until Rupert snatched her away from him and scolded her for dropping the food.
Lorelle hadn't meant to flinch at his raised hand or voice while they were in public, but the damage had been done and not only had the entire village seen but the handsome Drow did as well. Shame filled her and tears brimmed in her eyes as Rupert dragged her away from the spot. Her heart cried out in frustration and her soul cried out in longing, however, her mind knew better than to hope that someone could rescue her when she could hardly save herself. Still, as she dared to glance over her shoulder and though her hope was frail, it was hard to kill as she saw a fiery look flashed in those golden eyes watching her be dragged away.
I PROMISE THIS WILL HAVE A HAPPY ENDING.
